It’s been a difficult season, one that included the cancelation of the high school season, tons of players coming and going, and an overall lack of playing opportunities. Despite that and thanks to yeomen efforts from coaches, I’ve been fortunate to see a ton of players and learn some new names. Coaches are always on the lookout for bigs and wings, and this class features its share. In this article, a follow-up to our top Wings article, we take a look at some of the top wings in the class of 2022.
Donte Turner Donte Turner 6'2" | SF Cimarron | 2022 State NV 6’3 SG Cimarron #16 – Versatile defender, and scorer. Turner guards both wing spots effectively and can bang as an undersized post. He finds ways to get buckets, by running the floor and offensive rebounding.
Andrick Santillan Andrick Santillan 6'4" | SG Cheyenne | 2022 State NV 6’4 SG Cheyenne #18 – Swiss Army Knife type guy. Shoots the 3 ball, can score in transition from the wing, and has the vision and handles to play some point in a pinch.
Fredy Vargas Fredy Vargas 6'0" | SG Rancho | 2022 NV 6’0 SG Rancho #19 – Good multi-level scorer. Vargas can shoot the 3, and finish around the rim off dribble drives. Tough kid willing to stick his nose in the paint and rebound.
Marquise Johnson Marquise Johnson 6'2" | SG Trinity Prep | 2022 State NV 6’2 SG Bonanza #22 – When his shot is falling his value really increases. Johnson has a sweet stroke and can space the floor or create for himself.
Frank Evans Frank Evans 6'1" | SG Eldorado | 2022 State NV 6’1 SG Bonanza #23 – Similar to Johnson in his ability to create for himself. Evans also likes to hunt buckets in transition.
Andrew Lehmann Andrew Lehmann 5'11" | SG South Tahoe | 2022 State NV 5’11 South Tahoe #24 – One of his conference’s top scorers as a sophomore. Lehmann is a deadeye from behind the arc and is capable of going for big numbers.
Miles Mitchell Miles Mitchell 6'2" | SG Cimarron | 2022 State NV 5’11 SG Cimarron #27 – A sniper that loves the corner 3. Mitchell is lethal in catch-and-shoot situations, making him one of the top floor spaces and shooters in his class.
Isaiah Dahl Isaiah Dahl 6'4" | SG Elko | 2022 State NV 6’3 SG Elko #28 – Dahl is a sniper. He has the ability to space the floor with his catch and shoot or come off screens to knock down shots. Good fundamentals on his shot including early prep work.
Gianni Rodriguez Gianni Rodriguez 6'3" | SF Sierra Vista | 2022 State NV 6’3 SG Sierra Vista #30 (featured image) – One of the most versatile shooters in the class. Rodriguez is just as comfortable slashing to the bucket as he is drawing and dishing to the open man.
