Continue ReadingOne week remains in the regular season and a number of conference titles have been claimed. Forest Hills Northern won the OK White title with a perfect 11-0 conference record, as has Catholic Central (OK Gold), Unity Christian (OK Blue), and Godwin Heights each going undefeated in their respective leagues. Zeeland East and Muskegon are still in contention for the OK Green title, as are West Ottawa and Rockford for the OK Red crown.
1. Catholic Central (13-0), (↔ Previously 1st)
Catholic Central wrapped up the OK Gold league title last week, making it the 5th consecutive league title for the Cougars. Catholic Central will forgo the final week of the season in hopes of eliminating any COVID-related risks before the MHSAA tournament begins next week.
2. Zeeland East (13-0), (↔ Previously 2nd)
Zeeland East’s undefeated season continues and enters the final week of the regular season with a pair of obstacles between them and the OK Green title. Tonight, the Chix get together with cross-town rival Zeeland West, and on Friday, they travel to Muskegon for the regular-season finale. If Zeeland East wins out, they win the OK Green outright.
3. Forest Hills Northern (12-1), (↔ Previously 3rd)
Forest Hills Northern has won 10 games in a row and looks to be in prime condition to win the OK White outright and make a deep run in the MHSAA Division 1 state playoffs. The Huskies will also forgo the final week of the season.
4. Rockford (13-2), (↔ Previously 4th)
The Rams lost a low-scoring nail-biter to Grand Haven last week (31-35), and in doing so, keeps the window open for West Ottawa to win a share of the OK Red. The league title will be decided on Tuesday when West Ottawa travels to Rockford in what will be the game of the week.
5. South Christian (11-2), (↔ Previously 5th)
The Sailors have steadily climbed the ranks as one of the area’s best teams and appear to be playing its best basketball heading into the postseason.
6. Grand Rapids Christian (8-2), (↔ Previously 6th)
Grand Rapids Christian has decided to forgo the rest of the regular season amid COVID complications in hopes of being healthy and ready to play in the MHSAA District Tournament next week.
7. Godwin Heights (10-0), (↑ Previously 8th)
With the OK Silver title already in hand, Godwin Heights will look to close out the season undefeated with a pair of OK Silver matchups this week: Belding on 3/16 and Kelloggsville on 3/18.
8. Unity Christian (13-2), (↑ Previously 9th)
Zac Velthouse Zac Velthouse 6'5" | PF Hudsonville Unity Christian | 2021 State MI continues to have a banner season for the Crusaders, who knocked off Coopersville for the second time this season last week, securing the OK Blue title.
9. Muskegon (11-4), (↓ Previously 7th)
Muskegon trails Zeeland East by one game in the OK Green standings and can win a share of the conference title with a win on Friday.
10. West Ottawa (11-3), (↔ Previously 10th)
West Ottawa has scratched and clawed its way to remain in contention for a share of the OK red title. Tuesday’s matchup with Rockford will be its biggest game of the year to date.
