With our rankings having been updated recently, time to highlight some of the 8th graders making noise across the state this season.
, Adair County – Loy has been a starter for Adair for a while now and has been very solid this year as he’s averaging 13 points per game with 42-37-85 shooting splits for an Adair team that continues to improve and could surprise some folks in the 5th Region.
, Knott County Central – He’s waiting his turn but Knott graduates a lot of talent this season that has been relied on for years and I expect Slone to step up and take over the majority of the shots in the Patriot offense.
, Great Crossing – Most will know his last name because of his brother who was a star at Scott County before moving to EKU but Malachi is a totally different player than Michael. The younger Moreno is already 6’9 and is primarily a post player right now but should eventually show some stretch in his offense.
, Bowling Green – Bowling Green is another team that will graduate most of their roster and Bailey is likely to take over the reigns of the Purples offense for the foreseeable future. A shifty athlete who can get downhill, Deuce should score a lot of points in his career at BG.
, Lexington Christian – A scoring guard for a very young Eagles roster, Green is strong and bigger than most in his class and can bully his way to the rim. Anderson is also a good shooter who is making 37% of his threes and 83% of his free throws this season.
