Jayson Green Jayson Green 6'2" | PG Berkshire School | 2022 State NLG – Berkshire School/NE6 – 6’2’’ – SG/PG/SF – 2022 (pictured above)
When you first watch Green play, what sticks out initially is his physique. A player who is no stranger to the gym, Green uses his athleticism and speed to blow by defenders before utilizing his brute upper body strength to absorb contact and finish over the interior defense. Green is a blur in the open court, and upon receiving the outlet pass, shifts gears and explodes up the court. The way he accelerates past the defense is eye-popping as he stamps fastbreak possessions with aggressive slam dunks. Green’s versatility in scoring the basketball is valuable because he effectively shoots off the dribble and catch. The 6’2’’ guard uses screens well and comes off aggressive, ready to fire. He also has an excellent isolation package and does a good job sizing up his man with an array of hesitation dribbles before pulling up confidently from long range. Green has also shown the capability to spot up and be a lethal catch-and-shoot jump shooter. An intelligent offensive player with a great feel for the game in the halfcourt is a handful for any defense because of his threat to fill up the stat sheet in various ways.
Max Grenert – Bishop Fenwick/Mass Elite – 6’4’’ – SF/SG – 2022
At 6’4’’ 200 Ibs., Grenert is a physical force on the wing. Not afraid to throw his weight around, Grenert will pin smaller defenders on the block and will repeatedly score around the basket using righty or lefty hook shots. He is also active on the offensive glass, using his strength and athleticism to get inside position to get second-chance points. Coming off a season averaging 15.4 points per game for Bishop Fenwick (ranked 5th in scoring in the North Shore), Grenert showed that he could be a potent scorer on a game-to-game basis. Despite having the build and muscle to be a low post player, Grenert separates himself from other combo forwards with his elite sniping ability from the outside. His 43 made three-pointers ranked him second in the North Shore, and he has the utmost confidence when shooting from deep. Grenert’s height makes it difficult for defenses to bother his shot, and he comfortably shoots right over any contest. He moves well without the ball and has good court awareness, especially when facing a zone defense. Always finding open holes in the defense to spot up, Grenert catches ready to shoot, has a quick release, and can bury perimeter shots routinely. He is a terrific three-level scorer, and considering his size, Grenert can be unstoppable on the wing.
Wesley Odiase – Cathedral – 6’5’’ – SG/SF/PF – 2023
Odiase is a terrific spot-up shooter and can open up Cathedral’s offense with his three-point range. He is extremely dangerous from long distance and always needs to be accounted for, especially in transition. Odiase looks for pull-up threes trailing the break and can put the ball on the deck and use his athleticism to weave his way to the rim. Odiase is excellent in pick and roll action, always opening up aggressively and finishing strong around the basket. The sophomore combo forward also reads defenses well and recognizes when it is a good time to pop off the screen and display his great touch from three. Odiase’s face-up game at the high post is very polished. He loves catching and ripping through aggressively, and he can go to several moves from that position. He will rise over defenders and drill a free throw line jumper effortlessly. The wing will also show a fake and drive to the basket and finish at the rim with either hand or take a dribble pull-up 10-foot jumper. He has excellent footwork, and when you mix in his 6’5’’ athletic frame, Odiase is a matchup nightmare inside the three-point line.
Trevor White – Attleboro High/Expressions Elite – 6’5’’ – SG/SF/PF – 2023
A locomotive in transition, White possesses elite athleticism and power when running in the open court. His long strides and wingspan allow him to pick up his dribble around the three-point line, and he can get to the basket in two steps. White uses his leaping ability well and is agile, getting around defenders, and is always under control. He is a three-level scorer who has power and strength of a 4 or 5 and perimeter scoring prowess of a wing. White is a difficult cover who can score in the post displaying fadeaway jumpers or going through defenders and finishing strong above the rim. He has developed into a proficient face-up forward, too, showing great touch on his mid-range and the confidence to hit highly contested shots. Also, White is a dangerous catch-and-shoot three-point shooter who makes defenders pay for lazy closeouts. An encouraging sign for the sophomore is his ability to create for himself on the perimeter and score off the dribble. An athlete who does not just rely on his athleticism to make dynamic plays, White shows the tools and skill set to become a lethal perimeter threat.
Liam McBride – Hingham High/Middlesex Magic – 6’1’’ – SG/SF – 2023
One of the more efficient shooters in the Patriot League, McBride can put on a laser show from the outside. When watching McBride on the court, his stamina sticks out. A well-conditioned athlete, McBride continuously moves without the ball, running off screens looking to fire from distance. To shoot above 40% from 3 and over 90% from the free-throw line and maintain that efficiency throughout a game speaks volumes about his mental and physical endurance. Possessing one of the quickest releases, McBride needs little time to get his shot off. The 6’1’’ wing has unlimited range and can launch from 5 feet behind the three-point arc. What is great to see about McBride is that he does not live or die by the three. He does an excellent job showing a pump fake and taking a dribble to get into the mid-range and getting 2 points if the defense runs him off the line. McBride has also demonstrated success attacking the hoop and challenging rim protectors, finishing with either hand. He is a versatile wing scorer who is as reliable as they come shooting the basketball.
