Zander Beard Zander Beard 6'0" | PG Lincoln Northeast | 2022 State NE – 6’1 Guard – Lincoln Northeast
I feel like Beard will surprise a lot of people over this next summer and next season. A poised and heady point guard, Beard will shine with more time leading the charge next season. He has a great handle that he uses to knife through defenses for crafty finishes. He also does a phenomenal job of taking care of the ball. He didn’t attempt a ton of threes every game but made them count when he did, Beard shot a flaming 48% from three! He’s a floor general to keep your eye on this summer and into the next season.
Brady Christiansen – 6’6 Forward – Lincoln Pius X
This explosive, intriguing wing is one of two Pius X players on this Supreme roster. Christiansen is a long wing that plays very unselfishly. My favorite part of his game is how he can get a rebound and push the ball. I mean he REALLY gets out and goes. In the open court, he’s got some handle and makes the smart play. He can also go up and dunk on you which is always a perk. His potential will be tied to his jump shot. He was not consistent from the line or from three, but if he gains consistency in his shooting watch out. I’m very high on Christiansen’s upside and I believe he’s going to be a massive stock riser in his class.
Jack Hastreiter Jack Hastreiter 6'6" | PF Lincoln Pius | 2022 State NE – 6’6 Forward – Lincoln Pius X
Hastreiter is another solid wing from Pius. In addition to the endless length Hastreiter has, he’s a strong player as well. He doesn’t get sped up as he heads towards the bucket and can finish with both hands once he gets there. He’s another unselfish player that makes great reads for dump downs and kick-out threes. Hastreiter picked up an offer from Wayne State (D2) in the fall, look for more like it to come his way.
Elliot Jurgens Elliot Jurgens 5'11" | CG Beatrice | 2022 State NE – 6’0 Guard – Beatrice
This excellent guard now has a championship pedigree! Jurgens led his state championship team in almost every major statistical category this season. He can shoot the three-ball and is an assassin in the midrange. He translates his football prowess to the basketball court by intercepting passes left and right. I really like his handle and he can be very nifty with it when he wants to me. The dude is a monster athlete and has great instincts on the court. I expect him to have a dynamite summer.
Brett Mahony Brett Mahony 6'4" | PF Kearney Catholic | 2022 State NE – 6’4 Guard/Forward – Kearney Catholic
This was Mahony’s third year as his team’s offensive hub and he delivered his best year yet. Mahony has a complete game that he’s built up with hard work each year. He can post up and has phenomenal footwork when he’s down there. He can also shoot the three at a great clip. This past year he did a better job of making the right pass out of the post and out of doubles. Mahony at the end of the day is a prolific scorer that should parlay this summer into significant college interest.
Brayden McPhail Brayden McPhail 5'10" | PG Lincoln East | 2022 State NE – 5’8 Guard – Lincoln East
Don’t let his height fool you, McPhail is as tough as they come. This guard was a beast on defense all season. McPhail didn’t back down from anyone and was often tasked with guarding the opposing team’s best player. He more than held his own against some of the best guards in the state. He balanced out his defense with a poised offensive game. He’s got a beautiful jump shot and is a nifty passer as well. He’s been on Supreme’s top teams his whole high school career and should be one of the leaders for this squad.
Jaxon Weyand – 5’11 Guard – Milford
Weyand is a dynamic guard for Milford and he comes from a great family lineage of athletes here in Nebraska. He’s a lefty who plays with a competitive fire that’s unmatched. Weyand is a true three-level scorer. He’s got a pretty jumper that can cash threes at a good clip. If he gets into the lane, he’s great at rising up and shooting over the defense. In the open court he’s a monster and if he gets to his left hand, forget about it. Milford also posted him up throughout the season and he used his frame and athleticism for strong finishes. Weyand is one of my favorite players to watch in the class, he should have a great summer.
Devin Wilson Devin Wilson 6'2" | SG Millard North | 2022 State NE – 6’2 Guard – Millard North
This uber-athletic guard is looking to have a massive summer for Supreme. Thus far, Wilson has shown tons of flashes of his high upside but should be putting it all together soon. This year he showed some very athletic finishing and did a solid job of getting downhill, he also had some eye-popping dunks this season. He can really shoot it from three and as his handle gets better, his off-the-dribble three could get very lethal. Wilson is a huge potential stock riser in the 2022 class and his game should flow seamlessly to the Class A level next season.
Mason Strong Mason Strong 5'11" | PG Omaha North | 2022 State NE – 5’10 Guard – Omaha North
Strong is a player whose game I’m not too familiar with yet. He put up solid numbers this year for North and from what I’ve been hearing he is an athletic guard that is in line for a big summer and senior season. He shoots a good percentage from the line and has a nice-looking jumper. I’m excited to better acquaint myself with his game this summer.
Jake Bargen – 6’1 Guard – Centennial
This is another guard that I’ll be taking some more time to evaluate in the coming months. From what I’ve heard and seen he is a sharpshooter. He has nice footwork coming off of screens to gather himself for different jumpers. Will be watching a lot more of his game soon!
