New World Order
As we transition into AAU, it makes sense to begin previewing what to expect for the upcoming season. One of the teams we are most excited to see will certainly be New World. At the 17U level, they are absolutely stacked. Favour Aire Favour Aire 6'10" | C Bishop McNamara | 2022 State #86 Nation MD and Tyrell Ward Tyrell Ward 6'7" | SF DeMatha | 2022 State #56 Nation MD are a pair of borderline five-star prospects who are already being recruited by the highest level division one programs. Devin Ceaser Devin Ceaser 6'1" | CG St. Stephen's & St. Agnes | 2022 State VA is a fast-riser that coaches will hopefully get an up-close look at. And Nate Pabis Nate Pabis 6'5" | SF Flint Hill | 2023 State VA is a sharpshooter that has become more athletic and will do all the little things to help them win games. Ty Williams Ty Williams 6'1" | PG Rock Creek Christian | 2022 State MD is the biggest sleeper among this group. He is a dynamic point guard prospect who plays both ends of the court and should begin attracting multiple division one level suitors in due time. These are just a few of the upperclassmen prospect that the New World program will feature.
New World’s 2024 class is also tremendous. Khani Rooths Khani Rooths 6'7" | SF IMG Academy | 2024 State #16 Nation FL of Georgetown Prep recently picked up his first offer from Georgetown. His classmate Goap Kodi Goap Kodi 6'10" | C Georgetown Prep | 2024 State MD also has a chance to be very good. Jaeden Mustaf Jaeden Mustaf 6'4" | SG OTE | 2024 #51 Nation GA and Ty Bevins Ty Bevins 6'5" | SG Gwynn Park | 2024 State #157 Nation MD are a pair of names to know from this group as well.
Big Man Renaissance
The post position is alive and well at some programs throughout this area. Gonzaga’s twin towers, Will Scherer Will Scherer 6'9" | C Gonzaga | 2021 State MD and Nicholas Evans, have each had bright moments throughout The St. James Winter League. Joseph Mupoyi Joseph Mupoyi 6'8" | C Archbishop Carroll | 2023 MD has improved significantly for the DC Lions (Carroll). And Amani Hansberry Amani Hansberry 6'7" | C Mount St. Joseph | 2023 State #52 Nation MD has been the fulcrum of his team’s offense. Last but not least, Jacory Wilkes Jacory Wilkes 6'6" | C Thomas Stone | 2022 State MD of Thomas Stone and New World is a forceful paint presence that often goes overlooked but can play at a high level.
Lawson and Brown the Law Firm
Is there a more tenacious backcourt in the area than at Archbishop Carroll? Rob Lawson Rob Lawson 5'9" | PG National Christian | 2022 State MD and Cam’ron Brown Cam’ron Brown 5'10" | PG Archbishop Carroll | 2022 State MD pressure the ball relentlessly. These guys have quickly built chemistry and routinely control the tempo of each game on both ends.
