For many players, it has been that long since they’ve had the opportunity to play competitive basketball. Luckily the PrepHoops Circuit is here. This year the Hustle Region includes 11 stops, covers 5 states, and features hundreds of prospects. In this article, we take a look at some local players ready to make a name for themselves this summer.
Daiquan Sykes Daiquan Sykes 5'11" | PG Sunrise Mountain | 2021 State NV 6’1 PG Hardwork Dedication (#87PHN 2021) – Excited to get a look at Sykes. He was coming off a huge junior year and was all set to explode on the scene his senior season before Covid hit. The jitterbug PG is a multi-level scorer with the opportunity to be one of the top scorers on the circuit this year.
Jacques Williams Jr Jacques Williams Jr 5'9" | PG Arbor View | 2022 NV PG Hard 2 Guard (#34PHN 2022) (featured image) – I saw Williams last week, and he solidified himself as one of the top defensive players in the state in my eyes. The circuit will be a good test for him, as it is filled with tons of explosive guards. I know he has the defense, but H2G’s success may depend on what he can give on the offensive side of the ball.
Aaron Price Aaron Price 6'7" | PF Liberty | 2022 State NV 6’6 PF West Coast Select (#6PHN 2022) – Get your cameras ready. I have a feeling that Price is about to blow up this weekend. Playing for a deep and talented West Coast Select squad, I expect him to have more than his share of attacks at the rim. Simple thing for him, if he showss increased ball skills, allowing him to transition down to the 3, then you are looking at one of the favorites for All-Tournament team honors.
Nick Middlebrooks Nick Middlebrooks 6'2" | SG Faith Lutheran | 2022 State NV 6’2 SG West Coast United – Glad to have Middlebrooks participating. He played in my Cedar City event a few weeks ago and had a good showing. A high IQ guy, and scrappy defender, it will be good to get an extended look at his skill set.
Fredy Vargas Fredy Vargas 6'0" | SG Rancho | 2022 NV 6’3 SG Hardwork Dedication (#19PHN 2022) – Vargas was a player on the rise before the Covid pause. He was the leading scorer at Rancho as a sophomore and poised to have a breakout summer. He looks to regain that magic starting this weekend. The playmaker shoots it a little and puts defenders in a bind with his downhill speed.
Jalen Foy Jalen Foy 6'5" | SF Canyon Springs | 2022 State NV 6’5 PF Hard 2 Guard (#15PHN 2022) – Foy is one of my circuit sleepers. He has been playing well since transforming his frame. The kid’s a shooter, that’s for sure, I’m looking to see his new and improved floor game. If Foy shows an improved handle, and passing skills, expect him to generate quite a buzz.
