For many players, it has been that long since they’ve had the opportunity to play competitive basketball. Luckily the PrepHoops Circuit is here. This year the Hustle Region includes 11 stops, covers 5 states, and features hundreds of prospects. In this article, we take a look at some local players ready to make a name for themselves this summer.
Jake Bevacua 5’10 PG Chosen Few 2023 (#21PHN 2023) – Bevacua makes his long-awaited return. A few years ago he was one of the top incoming freshmen in the state. After battling a few injuries, he’s back. A sniper with a slick handle, he should instantly become a favorite on the circuit.
Cole Ellena Cole Ellena 6'9" | C Liberty | 2024 State NV 6’9 C West Coast Select 2024 (#11PHN 2024) – Every time I watch him, Ellena shows improvement, so I’m thrilled to have him on the circuit. Size is obvious but what I’m interested in is to see how he scores. Can he stretch the floor, has he improved his back to the basket game? I expect all of these questions to be answered over the course of the circuit season.
Elijah Burney Elijah Burney 6'1" | PG Centennial | 2023 State NV 6’0 West Coast Select 2023 (#27PHN 2023) – Like Bevacua, it’s been a while since I’ve had the opportunity to watch Burney. He’s known as a tough shot maker and a guy that relishes the big moments. With the competition in front of him on the circuit, I expect him to be in his share of them.
Jamison McCall Jamison McCall 6'0" | CG Spring Valley | 2024 State NV 6’0 CG Chosen Few 2024 (#12PHN 2023) – If McCall hits a few threes a game, don’t be surprised. One of the top shooters in his class, he and Alijah Adem Alijah Adem 6'2" | PG Spring Valley | 2024 State #174 Nation NV should form one of the top backcourts on the circuit.
Giali Chapman Giali Chapman 6'3" | CG Mojave | 2023 State NV 6’1 CG Chosen Few 2023 (#15PHN 2023) – Chapman played with Burney in high school and shares the backcourt with McCall during the grassroots season. He’s proved that no matter who’s beside him, he can produce. The combo shoots it well from the arc and has enough wiggle to get off his own shot. He’s a player that will be closely evaluated throughout the circuit because of his backcourt versatility.
