Sawyer Harper, senior, Hugoton:
Harper went off for 30 points and 13 rebounds against Hoisington, then came back with 16 points and 8 rebounds against Lakin. He is a versatile guard who can get in the lane and fight with the big guys. He also can really shoot it from deep. Harper was an honorable mention 3A pick a year ago.
Cason Richardson Cason Richardson 6'2" | CG Hesston | 2022 State KS , junior, Hesston:
The third-team 3A performer from a year ago scoring 17.8 points per game. Richardson is an athlete who at 6-foot-3 can find his teammates or shoot over defenders. He’s tough on the defensive end and has a lot of versatility on the offensive end.
Brett Sarwinski Brett Sarwinski 5'10" | PG Galena | 2022 State KS , junior, Galena:
The 5-foot-11 guard was third-team 3A as a sophomore. Galena was ready for the 3A state semi-final game a year ago when the pandemic pulled the plug. Sarwinski is back for more this year after earning honorable mention honors on the football field. He’s an athlete who can really defend and create havoc with his hands and instincts at the defensive end. He’s a versatile scorer who doesn’t have to do too much because of the talent around him.
Christian Williams Christian Williams 6'2" | CG Trinity Academy Wichita | 2021 State KS , senior, Wichita Trinity:
The smooth 6-foot-2 guard keeps it under control and directs the Knights’ attack with precision. He is a playmaker and steady ball handler who can shoot from the perimeter, or penetrate and score or dish. His physical attributes make him a good rebounder and defender as well.
Dawson Zenger Dawson Zenger 6'1" | CG Rock Creek | 2021 State KS , senior, Rock Creek (pictured):
If you want to see someone fill it up, this is your guy. He can shoot it from the perimeter, but that’s not his strongest suit. He is a dynamo in the midrange and in the open court. The first-team 3A star as a junior has been one of the state’s elite scorers for three years. His matchup with Royal Valley will be fascinating, because the Panthers have some athletes, including Nahcs Wahwassuck Nahcs Wahwassuck 6'5" | CG Royal Valley | 2022 State KS , who could make scoring tough for Zenger. But he’s only been held under 20 points once this season.
