Several young players who contributed to their high school teams this year are looking to plant themselves firmly on the radar of college coaches this spring. In this article we take a look at some potential Spring Stockrisers.
Dai’Shaun Wilkerson-Buie 6’6 SF Jordan|Salt Lake Rebels 2023 – DWB really jumped off the screen for me this weekend with his play out in Florida. He’s what I call an easy evaluation, as he was always making some type of productive play for his squad. The athletic lefty has a chance to really rise with consistent play like that throughout the grassroots season.
Diego Mulford Diego Mulford 5'10" | PG American Fork | 2024 State UT 5’9 PG Cyprus|Salt Lake Hustle 2024 (#9PHU 2024) – One of the top young shooters in the state. Mulford put together a quality freshmen season for a young Cyprus squad. Now where does he go from here? With shooting being such a premium weapon, I expect him to open some eyes if he continues to shoot it at the same 48% clip he shot it at this season.
Malick Diallo 6’9 C Juan Diego Catholic|Jimmer Elite 2024 (#4PHU 2024) – One of the top young big men in the state has a chance to burst onto the national scene this year. Diallo is coming off a huge freshmen high school season where he averaged 10 and 6 for one of the top 4A teams in the state. Look for him to attract his share of offers this summer.
David Katoa David Katoa 6'4" | CG Layton | 2024 State #255 Nation UT 6’4 SF RSL Academy|Utah Prospects 2024 (#1PHU 2024) – Katoa proved that he can consistently score the ball during his high school year. It will be exciting to see how he carries over into the grassroots season. He’s a driver, slasher type, but if he can show improvement from behind the arc, don’t be surprised to hear about him quite a bit this summer.
Quentin Meza Quentin Meza 6'0" | PG Cyprus | 2023 State UT 6’0 PG Cyprus|Salt Lake Hustle 2023 (#9PHU 2023) (featured image) – One of the most exciting players in the state gets ready for what could be his coming-out party. Meza who averaged over 20ppg last season is a sniper with insane confidence. Look for some jaw-dropping performances from him during this grassroots season.
