Zaiden Cross, 6’6 SF C-Prep Academy 2022: Cross shot the lights out to help C-Prep Academy come back from a double-digit halftime deficit. Cross has a long wingspan and standing at about 6’6, should be a highly prioritized wing recruit. Both Cross and the next player I’m going to spotlight from C-Prep Academy played the entire game, fueling their team to victory.
Romad Dean, 6’7 PF C-Prep Academy 2022: I try not to spotlight the same player on back to back days, but Dean was awesome once again in this victory. Dean plays with a lot of energy and combine that with his wingspan and he’s a double double machine. Once again Dean was efficient at finishing around the rim with his athleticism and touch. Dean was one of a few major stock risers from this event, high major programs will want to keep tabs on him throughout the summer.
In the final game of the event, Az Compass Prep raced Ypsi Prep (MI) out of the gym, winning 76-35.
Ty Ty Washington, 6’3 PG Az Compass Prep 2021: Ty Ty has absolutely incredible feel for the game, the senior floor general was dropping dimes all over the place in this one. Whether it was a drive and kick to a shooter, a dump off to a player on the block or an alley-oop in transition, Washington was putting it in the right place at the right time. Defensively, Ty Ty was always in the right spot in help-side defense, allowing him to grab three steals in this one. Ty Ty has been dominating this high school season, establishing himself as one of the top guards in the country.
DaRon Holmes, 6’8 PF Az Compass Prep 2021: The future Dayton Flyer looked right at home, just about 10 miles north from where he’ll be playing college basketball. Holmes looks the part of a high major forward prospect as his athletic tools are elite. Holmes rocked the gym with a couple powerful dunks and grabbed 14 rebounds in the process.
Glenn Taylor Jr, 6’6 SF Az Compass Prep 2021: Taylor isn’t one of the most well known prospects on Az Compass Prep, but his efficient scoring caught my eye in this one. Az Compass Prep seems like a team where anybody could be near the top of the team in terms of scoring and yesterday was Taylor’s turn to score 17 points, only 2 behind Holmes who led the team.
