Johnny Melvin Johnny Melvin 6'4" | SG Orr | 2021 State IL (Orr – 2021)
Melvin is a 6’4” strong bodied wing that transferred into Orr from Texas. This was our first look at him. Quite a few intriguing attributes to see with Melvin. First, he has quality strength and a good frame. For the most part in this game it was his three ball that was most effective. Drained three of his four triples off the catch. Showed an easy release with quite a bit of arc on it. Also connected on a pull up triple. Off the bounce he was most effective as a passer. Made several impressive dishes off live dribbles finding shooters on the opposite side of the court. Solid athlete and with his strength and we would have liked to seen him get downhill a little more and to the line. Went for 16 points. Late sleeper that has emerged as a senior!
Tyrese Shannon Tyrese Shannon 6'6" | PF Orr | 2021 State IL (Orr – 2021)
Shannon is a bouncy 6’6” power forward that plays off his athleticism. He had an impressive swat early in the contest showing the springs he has in his legs. Plus length and high points rebounds. Offensively he had a big tip slam along with finishing a dump off. Not a spectacular stat line, but the upside is what you are buying with Shannon.
Norvell Meadows Norvell Meadows 6'0" | PG Orr | 2021 State IL (Orr – 2021)
Meadows had one of his best performances we have seen out of him in his career. The scoring 5’10” point guard had it all working. Crisp ball handler and shooter as those two complimented each other well in this game. Shoots it at a nice clip off the bounce from both mid-range and three. Shifty ball handler that gets in the lane where he regularly makes tough layups including scoop shots and reverse finishes. Like what he showed as a passer in spurts setting up others along with really getting after it on the defensive end with his active hands. Had several steals that he took the other way for points. Went for 21 points. Small colleges and JUCO’s need to be on Meadows!
Caleb Hannah Caleb Hannah 6'7" | PF Orr | 2022 State IL (Orr – 2022)
Hannah is a long and rangy combo forward with a thin frame. In our first eval of the junior we liked what we saw. Did a little bit all over the floor with a corner three, put back, and finished bullet passes on the interior. Rebounds well in and out of his area chasing them down. The length played defensively getting steals and altering shots. Looking forward to tracking him this summer. He had 9 points.
