Lake Orion (W) vs. Waterford Kettering
Nick Fisher (2021, PF, Lake Orion)
Fisher was really impressive in this matchup, especially considering that the opposing point guard was one of the best in the state. He flashed some solid handles and was fast with the ball going north-south. Fisher was able to beat the defense down the floor and not allow them to get set, once resulting in a lefty lay in for him. He showed the ability to drive and dish and fire a pinpoint pass into the paint. Fisher scored with his jumper, finishing at the rim in traffic, and from the line.
Alden Ritt Alden Ritt 6'7" | PF Lake Orion | 2022 State MI (2022, SF, Lake Orion)
I’ve been a big fan of his game since his debut at the Prep Hoops Top 250 a couple years ago. He has continued to improve and expand his game. At 6-7, Ritt has good positional size and strength that make him a very tough matchup. His mid range game was basically unstoppable in this game. He drove and hit a floater, had a nice step back jumper, and was fouled on a free throw line jumper. Ritt connected on three 3 pointers and even had a steal that he took coast to coast for a finish. In my opinion, he has a terrific upside as a prospect.
Bennie Crenshaw Bennie Crenshaw 5'10" | PG Waterford Kettering | 2021 State MI (2021, PG, Waterford Kettering)
It was fun watching Crenshaw play over the last 4 years and he showed why in this game. The young man is full of fight and is a terrific leader. Everything runs through him on the offensive end and he steps up to that pressure and responsibility. Crenshaw was strong creating off the dribble and fighting through contact. He sees the entire floor and flashed a 1 handed pass that streams to it’s target.
Walled Lake Central (W) vs. Milford
Jaylen Davison Jaylen Davison 6'3" | SG Walled Lake Central | 2021 State MI (2021, SF, Walled Lake Central)
Davison contributed in a variety of ways. He was a sneaky rebounder that got him high percentage looks and saved possessions for his team. Davison had a creative take and finish for 2, as well as an old fashioned 3 point play when he finished off the baseline through contact.
Rafael Murrey (2021, PG, Walled Lake Central)
Murrey was as efficient as efficient could be. Unofficially, I counted 10 points from 3 layups and 4 free throws. You can’t get much more high percentage than that. Murrey was great on the defensive end as well, where he applied pressure on the ball and sped up the game.
Ryan Nelson (2022, SF, Walled Lake Central)
Nelson was a long athlete and a tough guard that night. He had at least 3 buckets in transition including an emphatic dunk late in the game. I had him with 14 points on the day.
Joe Bjorkman (2021, PF, Milford)
Bjorkman is a senior captain for Milford, and he went out the right way. Especially in the second half, he absolutely battled. He was incredibly active on the boards and showed really strong hands when pulling it down. Bjorkman played disciplined defense in the paint and was an important leader on that end.
Lucas Theriault (2022, PF, Milford)
I was really impressed with Theriault. In my opinion, he was the best player on the floor in the first half. He liked to put his back to the basket and establish position deep. He was also comfortable working out of the high post. By my count, Theriault had 14 points, and he scored them in a variety of ways. He scored off post moves, counter moves, the free throw line, a shot fake, and a turn around jumper. Theriault could make a huge leap over the course of the spring and summer.
