Continue ReadingFor a lot of members of the class of 2023, the 2020-21 season was the first opportunity for additional playing time and some sense of responsibility on the court. A lot of these players also began to grow and their games reflected their increased skills and abilities from their time as freshmen. Though still considered underclassmen, these players do not play like they are younger and a lot of them have been key contributors for their teams in this past season and will be in the years to come as well. Continue reading for a look at a couple of the top stock risers from the class of 2023.
Hayden Fletcher Hayden Fletcher 5'10" | PG Centennial | 2023 State ID , Centennial: Fletcher will likely be a 4-year varsity letterman for the Patriots and he already has a lot of quality minutes under his belt. Hayden has recently hit a growth spurt and additional size and weight will help him be able to compete at a high level in the 5A SIC. Fletcher has a solid jump shot from outside and he will look to become a more consistent scorer and shooter in the seasons to come in order to help be a leader for the Patriots. Hayden has a lot of potential and plenty of time to reach it.
Ja’Vonte King Ja’Vonte King 6'3" | SF Blackfoot | 2023 State ID , Burley: King may be one of the best players from the class of 2023 after seemingly coming from out of nowhere. King is built like a veteran player and he has already shown glimpses of being a high-level basketball player. Ja’Vonte plays the game with flow and uses his athleticism to finish well at the rim. He is also working on becoming more consistent with his jump shot and he has the mentality of a true scorer. King will be scary to watch in the upcoming seasons as he continues to improve and hone his skills.
Ty Gilbert Ty Gilbert 5'9" | SG Grace | 2023 State ID , Grace: Ty has a great jump shot and he will be a stronghold for Grace in the years to come. He has played a lot of varsity basketball already and will continue to strengthen his scoring and shooting abilities in the coming seasons. Gilbert has a great feeling for the game and plays with confidence and poise no matter who he faces. Ty will be a key piece of the Grace offense in the next couple of season and I am excited to watch him progress.
