Class 1
South Iron and Delta: South Iron will to take one step closer to its quest for a state championship against a high-scoring outfit from Delta, who survived an 89-88 overtime thriller in the sectionals against Gideon. Expect a lot of points in this one. (Prediction: South Iron)
Higbee vs. Green City at Glasgow: A quarterfinals battle between two teams with good guard play and like to get up and down the court. (Prediction: Higbee)
St. Elizabeth vs. Thomas Jefferson at Eugene: St. Elizabeth is seeking a third consecutive trip to the Final Four while standing in their way is a very solid Thomas Jefferson team. St. E is led by 2022 standout guard Brock Lucas while Thomas Jefferson features 2021 Dhruv Gheewala and 2022 Caden Meyers (Prediction: St. Elizabeth).
Mound City at Orrick: Mound City reached this game last season only to be edged by Platte Valley, so they are looking to take the next step. 2022 standout guard Tony Osburn Tony Osburn 6'2" | CG Mound City | 2022 State MO passed the 2,000-point mark in Tuesday’s sectional round victory over Stanberry. Orrick is an impressive team that has won two consecutive district championships. (Prediction: Mound City).
Class 2
Campbell at Valle: Campbell pulled off the comeback of the season in the sectionals when it rallied from 20 points down to defeat Alton 52-50 on a steal and layup by 2021 standout Blake Fowler Blake Fowler 5'11" | PG Campbell | 2021 State MO at the buzzer. He’s a premiere scoring threat as its 2021 Carter Hoog Carter Hoog 6'2" | SG Valle Catholic | 2021 State MO of Valle, who leads this young and talented Warriors team. (Prediction: Valle)
Crane at Norwood: Crane enters the contest as the No. 1 team in Class 2 and they looked impressive in its sectional victory over College Heights Christian. They will look to get by a Norwood team that features one of the state’s top Class 2 players in 2022 guard Garrett Davault. He’s a bucket. (Prediction: Crane)
Salisbury vs. Wellsville-Middletown at Montgomery County: Wellsville-Middletown pulled off a big one on Tuesday with its 57-56 victory over NE Cairo in the sectionals at the buzzer shot by Clayton Ebers, who scored 20 points. Salisbury also won a one-point thriller in its sectional game as it defeated Lincoln 54-53 to advance. Looks like another close one is at hand. (Prediction: Salisbury)
Lakeland vs. North Andrew at Clinton: This game features two of the state’s top Class 2 bucket-getters in 2021 Rafe Kalberloh of Lakeland and 2021 Tanner McDaniel of North Andrew. Both can fill it up and the supporting cast members are also good. Coin toss in this one. (Prediction: North Andrew)
