The event featured 30 kids from across the state of Virginia, and had numerous standouts throughout the day. Here’s a look at part three of the many big time players on the day.
Kevon Ferrell | 6’3” WG | Halifax County
Ferrell was one of the main reasons Halifax County was just one game away from the state championship this year, and he was both steady and productive throughout the day at the camp. The 6’3” guard has a good frame and is physical in the paint, he can play on or off the basketball and find ways to score it and he rebounded and made plays for others as well. He had a big first game going for 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
Reed Pendleton Reed Pendleton 6'1" | SG Moravian Prep | 2021 State VA | 6’3” WG | Moravian Prep
Pendleton was one of the top shooters in attendance, and while he didn’t get too many opportunities as he was on a team with some of the top talent he did take advantage of the few he got to make some shots. He also showed that he can impact the game in a number of other ways, including his ability to attack closeouts, score in the midrange and his ability to impact the game with his feel defensively. He was efficient and made the right play regularly throughout the day.
Andre Palmer | 6’2” PG | Massanutten
Another Roanoke area kid, Palmer showed flashes of brilliance with his athleticism and ability to create shots for himself and others. He stayed in attack mode regularly and found his way into the paint at will, he showed the ability to score from multiple levels and made a number of athletic plays throughout the event. He was one of the top scorers at 12 points per game.
Jaziel Mensah | 6’1” PG | Wilson Memorial
Mensah is one of the top players from the Harrisonburg area over the past few years, and he showed why with his quick twitch athleticism and ability to score the ball in isolation situations. He’s an all-around scorer that can get to the cup at will, can make shots from multiple levels and finds his way to the free throw line. He’ll be a guy that would benefit greatly from a post grad year and should continue to only get better moving forward.
Tennyson Garrison | 6’0” G | Jamestown
Garrison was one of the new names in the event that stood out, as he’s a combo guard that can give you a little bit of everything and make plays in a number of ways. He has a good motor and plays hard on both ends, he can get to his spots at will and he hit shots regularly from multiple levels. He’s a sleeper coaches should know more about, and he made a name for himself at this event for sure.
Maureon Tisdale-Couch Maureon Tisdale-Couch 6'1" | SG FUQUA | 2021 State VA | 6’2” G | FUQUA
Tisdale-Couch is the type of guard I love, as he isn’t a volume shooter or really great at one thing but he can impact the game with his size and overall ability to make plays on both ends of the floor. He’s a two way guy that can guard multiple positions, he’s efficient with his touches and consistently makes good plays on both ends of the floor. He seems like the type of guy that will do whatever it takes to help his team win, and we know every school could use a guy like him.
Vincent Cousins | 6’7” PF | Kecoughtan
Cousins was one of the top big men in a camp that doesn’t really fit the style of big men, but he took advantage of his opportunities to show his versatility and ability to impact the game on both ends. He’s a great athlete at his size that can play above the rim and runs the floor hard, he can face guys up and put it on the deck and he has the mobility to guard multiple positions. He rebounds well on both ends, plays with a good motor and is a walking mismatch when he’s on the floor.
