Despite an abbreviated season, these two young players showed out on two of the best teams in the city and will continue to make noise moving forward.
Here are their evaluations:
Ramsay Checo Ramsay Checo 6'1" | PG Jeremiah E Burke | 2024 NLG | Burke | 6’0” | Combo Guard | 2024
Checo is a smooth, quick combo guard, who showcased an impressive skill set and a high basketball IQ during an impressive freshman campaign. He played a leading role in Burke’s backcourt and is one of the best 2024 guards in NE. He has a quick first step, creates his own shot, and is a three-level scorer. His jumper is smooth, compact, and he hits off the dribble from the 3PT line and the mid-range. His tight handle gets him into the lane whenever he wants, he finishes with either hand and has court vision well beyond his years. He also brings intensity on the defensive end, has a high motor, and is dynamic in transition but plays under control. Ramsay averaged 20+ PPG this year and already holds a D1 offer from Sienna College.
Hassan Jenkins | New Mission | 6’3” | Guard-Forward | 2023
Jenkins is a long, physical, explosive wing, who has a blossoming offensive game and is easily one of the city’s top prospects. He already has a college-ready frame and uses it to dominate around the rim. He’s a force on the glass (on both ends of the floor), routinely fights through contact to finish, and sheds smaller defenders like it’s nothing. Then he can step out to the perimeter, where he knocks down open shots, has a solid handle, and attacks off the dribble with speed and force. On defense, he swats shots at the basket, rips down boards, and the lateral quickness to thrive as a perimeter defender. Hassan put up 24 points (9 rebounds) and 16 points (6 rebounds & 2 blocks) in their two BCL playoff games.
