But a handful of sophomores were recognized, including a few who haven’t received a lot of notoriety to this point.
Here is a look at the sophomores listed on the 3A through 6A all-state teams:
Avery Johnson Avery Johnson 6'2" | CG Maize | 2023 KS , Maize, 5A 2nd team (pictured):
The 6-foot-3 multi-sport star is a gifted passer with the ability to ignite his team with his distribution. His versatile production helped bring Maize a state title. He scored 17 points in the finale, after averaging 13 points, 4 boards, 3 assists and nearly 2 steals per contest.
Easton Ewing, Independence, 4A 2nd team:
The 6-foot-6 Ewing is a player who hasn’t been on the Prep Hoops radar, possibly because Independence struggled through a losing season. He averaged 18.3 points, 13.5 boards and 2.6 blocks per game. With those kind of stats, Ewing is a multi-sport stud who should be considered one of the top big men in the state moving into next year.
Jack Voth Jack Voth 6'6" | PF J.T. Hoggard | 2023 State NC , Buhler, 4A 2nd team:
A 6-foot-4 forward with a good touch, Voth showed off his ability to catch and shoot with point guard Max Alexander Max Alexander 6'0" | PG Next Level Prep | 2022 KS getting him the ball. He’s a physically strong and tough player ready for a bigger role next year.
Tyler Little Tyler Little 6'5" | PF Galena | 2023 State KS , Galena, 3A 1st team:
Little was one of the highest rated sophomores heading into the season, and he did not disappoint. The 6-foot-6 multi-sport star helped lead Galena to the 3A finals. He has a great face-up game in the mid-range, using his length and athleticism to create opportunities. His physical talents make him great in the transition game.
Wesley Fair Wesley Fair 6'2" | CG Wichita Collegiate | 2023 KS , Collegiate, 3A 2nd team:
The 6-foot-2 Fair did it all from the guard spot. To his 12.1 points he added 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He is an athletic defender and transition player who can shoot and score at every level.
Keller Hurla Keller Hurla 6'0" | CG St. Marys | 2023 State KS , St. Marys, 3A 2nd team:
Hurla is one of the more dynamic small players in the state. Though just 5-foot-9, he contributes in every area for the Bears. While his outside shot is his best weapon, he can attack the lane and score or distribute on the move.
