Continue ReadingIt was quite a weekend in the Grand Canyon State. Like it has been since the start of the Pandemic, Arizona has been the home for grassroots basketball. The weekend of March 20th and 21st was no different. In addition to Gerry Feritas’s Arizona Competiiton Classic, West Coast Elite in conjunction with Team Cezer organized their League of Legends, Kingz Of The City showcase. Several Nevada teams made the trek down to Arizona in search of exposure and competition. In this article, we breakdown the performance of some Nevada players from these events.
Tavionte Jackson Tavionte Jackson 6'1" | PG Las Vegas | 2022 NV 6’1 PG Hard 2 Guard 2022 (#2PHN 2022) – I caught Jackson in some League of Legends action. He didn’t have his fastball this week, however, he managed to show that he is still an elite, paint touch getter. Jackson’s handle checks out and despite struggling to shoot the ball at times, he still proved that his vision, slashing, and unique rebounding ability make him a D1 prospect.
Craig Comanche Craig Comanche 6'1" | CG Cheyenne | 2021 State NV 6’1 CG X-Factor 2021 (#34PHN 2021) – Comanche played hard. He was all over the floor at the Gerry Feritas event. A downhill master, when Comanche was attacking the basket in transition he was tough to stop. Didn’t see many spin moves this week, which tells me he is adding to his offensive repertoire.
Jacques Williams Jr Jacques Williams Jr 5'9" | PG Arbor View | 2022 NV PG Hard 2 Guard 2022 (#33PHN 2022) – The list of defensive stoppers in Vegas better than Williams is a short one. He proved one thing this weekend, and that is that he will straight up shut down opposing ballhandlers. He had 5 steals in one game and was all over the floor during League of Legend play.
Emeka Ceaser 5’11 SG X-Factor 2022 – Got a good look at Ceaser a month ago during the Cedar City Showcase, he was even better this weekend. He battled with players twice his size, guarding some tough offensive players in the process. I also liked his fundamentals, as Ceaser was one of the rare players, you would catch blocking out for rebound attempts.
Xakime Milton Xakime Milton 5'8" | PG Centennial | 2021 State NV 5’7 PG X-Factor 2021 (#34PHN 2021) (featured image) – Faster than I can post this write-up, Milton has made it down the floor and back multiple times. He was the fastest player I saw with the ball in his hands all weekend. With that speed obviously, his driving stood out, but it was his ability to use the mid-range to keep defenders off balance was impressive as well.
