Both the 2024’s and 2022’s were on hand, here are 5 players from the 2024 batch who made early impressions:
Aiden Sherrell Aiden Sherrell 6'10" | C Prolific Prep | 2024 #39 Nation CA-N , C, Norcross
The Packs indicated the amount of work Sherrell has been putting in since my intro to him during the LakePoint Fall League, and it showed as both his movement and his lift had made huge strides, he was rising for power slams at 6-8 and looking lean and mean getting up and down the floor when they went live against the 2022s, when evaluating freshmen you want to be fair and tempered but you have to be excited about the upside both offensively and defensively from this rising prospect.
Justin Mitchell Justin Mitchell 6'4" | SG TD Prep | 2024 GA , SG, Norcross
Tough to crack a deep Blue Devil rotation this year, but the athletic gifts and burgeoning all-around game are evident in watching Mitchell work, his outside shot continues to get better as he too has been putting in the off-time work, his body is already varsity level and at 6-3 he can guard 4 spots and rebound off the wing as well as any 2024 guard you’ll find, due for a monster summer.
Michael Pace, SG, Mt Pisgah
Perhaps the day’s brightest surprise, loved the slashing and scoring ability as he took it right at the 2022s and didn’t back down an inch, showed creativity and high IQ and looked comfortable with the ball in his hands or working away from it, good size already around 6-3 and will be a huge piece both this summer for the 15U’s and for Pisgah next year alongside 2022s studs MJ Winter MJ Winter 6'1" | PG Mt. Pisgah | 2022 State GA and Kasheem Grady Kasheem Grady 6'5" | SG Mt. Pisgah | 2021 State GA .
Cole Kirouac, PF, Mt Pisgah (via North Forsyth), pictured above
Kerouac will join Pace, Winter and Grady next season in Johns Creek, at 6-8 the wiry stretch-4 has tantalizing skills, perhaps not quite ready to regularly bang away near the basket he still can get down there and finish, he showed nice shooting touch out to the line and excellent defensive instincts in rim protection.
James McGriff, SG, Wesleyan
Spot-up shooter extraordinaire, but also loved the high IQ approach at both ends and the communication with his teammates, good size and frame at 6-5 you can see the bits of his game beyond the deep shooting range that are in development but sure to thrive as he and the rest of this 15U bunch plays a very competitive schedule.
