Merritt Alderink Merritt Alderink 6'7" | PF Zeeland West | 2024 State #245 Nation MI (PF, Zeeland West)
There aren’t many freshman that can match his physicality and strength. He not only plays through contact, but plays better with it. Alderink has as much upside as almost any post player in the class of 2024. I won’t be surprised if college coaches are lining up at the door in the near future.
Durral Brooks Durral Brooks 6'2" | PG Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2024 State MI (SG, Grand Rapids Catholic Central)
First of all, this young man is an elite athlete. He can simply do things that other athletes his change can’t do. Brooks is physically strong for his grade and he can shed off varsity level contact. He’s a tough ball handler that get get to the rim off the dribble and create in a 1-on-1 matchup. If I had to predict, I’d say that in the future, Brooks will be a legitimate contender for Mr. Basketball.
Christian Humphrey-Rembert Christian Humphrey-Rembert 6'8" | PF La Lumiere | 2024 #190 Nation IN (F, East Jordan)
I just put forward because I feel like that’s TBD. Whether it’s at the 3 or 4, he could end up as one of the top forwards in Michigan. He has excellent athleticism and length, which allows him to be a factor on the glass. Humphrey-Rembert is bouncy on both ends and a danger to opponents in transition.
EJ Ryans EJ Ryans 6'4" | SG Northview | 2024 State #224 Nation MI (CG, Northview)
Ryans name has taken off over the course of his freshman season. He is one of the most gifted players in the class and is quickly proving as much. Ryans is already a high level varsity scorer, that much is easy to see. He looks very comfortable playing both on and off the ball.
Dave Shillinger Dave Shillinger 5'9" | PG Ludington | 2024 State MI (PG, Ludington)
We just covered Schillinger here – https://prephoops.com/2021/03/5-new-pgs-2024-watch-list-update/ , but get used to hearing his name. College coaches aren’t going to want to let him sneak under the radar over the next few years.
