Continue ReadingAs the season has ended for many 2A basketball programs and the remaining teams will be ending their seasons shortly, I would like to use this article to reflect on a couple of great players who showed their skill and ability throughout the season. Many teams at the 2A level put on a stunning display of resilience during the 2020-21 season and the majority of teams played full schedules against all levels of competition. As we enter early March, a couple of great players were able to lead their programs to the state tournament and ultimately showed that they can play against anyone. Luke Hill Luke Hill 5'11" | SG North Fremont | 2021 State ID , North Fremont: The North Fremont Huskies finished the regular season undefeated in large part thanks to Luke Hill Luke Hill 5'11" | SG North Fremont | 2021 State ID . Luke was a great point guard for his team this season and he showed his ability to lead a team through scoring, defensive pressure, and basketball IQ. Hill routinely led the Huskies in scoring and contributed in many ways on the defensive end. He has a great looking jump shot that he shoots with skill and confidence. Inside the arc, he can score at the rim with ease and lived at the free throw line. On defense, Luke played with lots of energy and led the team by example.
Eli Gibson Eli Gibson 6'1" | SG St. Maries | 2021 State ID , St. Maries: St. Maries had a great season as they entered the postseason with only a single loss. Eli showed his leadership qualities this season with scoring outbursts when his team need them most as well as a player of the week award. Gibson is an offensive threat from inside and outside, although he does the majority of his scoring in the paint. He has a great looking jumper that he is able to knock down from anywhere on the court and he is an excellent all-around scorer. Eli rebounds well for his size and position.
