We spoke with Meanstreets 15U head coach Reggie Bates to discuss their high level CPS backcourt duo. Check out our Intro 2024: Carlos Harris & Antoine Glasper!
Carlos Harris (Curie)
How would you best describe his game at this stage?
Extremely tough guard who is committed to competing at both ends of the floor. He’s a leader with a high basketball IQ and is elite in downhill and open court situations.
What is his current height and weight?
6’2” 170lb
Long term what is an area that you believe can be developed in his game that might not be as evident right now?
Just continuing to trust his jump shot. He is so dynamic as a driver and a finisher, at times it can be easy to neglect the shooting part. He is definitely capable of knocking it down though.
What are the biggest traits he will bring to your program over the next several years?
He’s a complete player. He does multiple things on the basketball court that just helps a team win. His winning mentality is contagious. Carlos has been a top player in his class, and that is something I expect to remain the same throughout his high school career.
Is there a recent Illinois high school player that he reminds you of at a young age?
At this stage he sort of reminds me of Curie Alum Devin Gage.
Has there been any early college recruitment with him yet?
It is so early, he’s only a Freshman. But he will have plenty of choices when college decision time comes.
Antoine Glasper (Collins)
How would you best describe his game at this stage?
Antoine is an elite point guard. He is a blur with the ball in his hands with the ability to change direction and make reads at the drop of a dime. He makes the game much easier for the players who play with him. He is extremely unselfish and looks to get his team involved, but if he needs to take over a game scoring he can do that with the best of them.
What is his current height and weight?
6’0” 160 lbs
Long term what is an area that you believe can be developed in his game that might not be as evident right now?
Just being more vocal on the court, and as he continues to get older that will progress naturally.
What are the biggest traits he will bring to your program over the next several years?
He’s a dynamic playmaker that plays with a poise beyond his years. Antoine has the “IT” factor to him. He is all about the win. Whatever his team needs he will do, and when you have a player with those capabilities your team has a bright future. “Silent Assassin” as I like to call him will be a name always mentioned when talking about Illinois’ best players!
Is there a recent Illinois high school player that he reminds you of at a young age?
That’s a tough question. Antoine is such a unique player. He might just be one of a kind.
Has there been any early college recruitment with him yet?
He has just received an offer for DePaul University.
