With tryouts and grassroot team roster announcements taking place over the next couple of weeks, we are getting primed for what should be a tremendous year across the state with guys showing off their ability on the travel scene. here our some of the 2023 shooter to be on the lookout for.
Jack Lauer, 6’2 Guard, Marysville: A big bodied guard that exuberates the hard nosed, up and down, gritty Marysville program, Lauer also brings with him the tremendous shooting ability that traditionally comes from that area. He can get hot from deep in games, pouring in multiple threes in bursts and has the confidence in his ability to shoot the ball to knock down deep 3’s in big time spots. He is really good at getting himself ready to knock down 3’s in the transition game and in drive and kick situations.
Kaeden Bonner Kaeden Bonner 6'1" | SG Seaman | 2023 State KS , 6’ Guard, Seaman (Pictured): Hampered by some injuries during the high school season, Bonner still managed to put together a solid sophomore campaign for Topeka Seaman. Having the stop and start to his season with the injuries hurt his rhythm some as his percentages dipped from the 3 point line, but Bonner is a top notch shooter and look for him to get back to being a consistent dead eye from deep each weekend of games. He averaged 11.3 points per game this season.
Ryle Riddlesperger Ryle Riddlesperger 6'2" | PG Hugoton | 2023 State KS , 6’1 Guard, Hugoton: Riddlesperger plays with a ton of confidence on the basketball court, especially in his scoring ability. The Hugoton guard is also a dead eye 3 point shooter both off the bounce and off the catch, shooting 41% from three this season and knocking down 52 for the season while averaging 9 points per game. In the more open court nature of grassroots hoops, look for Riddlesperger to get plenty of good clean looks from distance.
Tyler Stuhlsatz, 6’2 Guard, Ellinwood: Stuhlsatz was tremendously efficient from behind the arc this year shooting 40% on 42 makes. He is a solid all around back court player as well, scoring 12 a game, grabbing 5 rebounds, and averaging close to 2 steals per game. He played and contributed a lot his freshman season, and saw a steady improvement in year two, hopefully on the grassroots scene he can get to showcase his shooting ability, get quality reps, and continue to grow in to what should be a really solid 3 point threat, and a big time guard for Ellinwood.
Britton Dutton Britton Dutton 6'0" | SG Argo Comm | 2023 State KS , 6’1 Guard, Ellinwood: Stuhlsatz counter part in the back court is one of the top guards in the class of 2023, especially when it comes to scoring the ball as he can get it done all over the court. However, he is special from the 3 point line, both off the catch and off the dribble. He shot 44% from behind the three point line and made 59 threes on the season. His ability to both attack the rim and shoot from deep make him really tough to scout and to guard, and Dutton should be primed for a monster grassroots campaign.
Will Rost Will Rost 6'3" | SG Aquinas | 2023 State KS , 6’5 Forward, St Thomas Aquinas: Hard to make a 3 point shooting list for the class of 2023 without Rost on it. He has a smooth shooting stroke, length to shoot over shot contests, and can get his own shot off from behind the line. Rost made 53 threes this season at 45% per game, and with the rest of his all around offensive game coming along and the versatility continues to grow, expect Rost to get himself even more opportunities from 3, and look out.
