Here are the new names from the Killeen/Waco area that were added to the 2022 Texas Rankings:
Randy Woolf Jr. | PG | Waco La Vega
- Woolf filled up the stat sheet this past season averaging 18.7 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.2 steals per game (21 games) for Waco La Vega. A physical and strong guard who stands at 6’2″, Woolf is a playmaker on offense where he can shoot the ball from deep or dish the rock to open teammates with zip and accuracy. He is a smart defender who is willing to put his body on the line and plays with active hands and anticipation. Earned UIL 4A-Region 3 All-Region Team.
Antwan Taylor Antwan Taylor 6'4" | SG Harker Heights | 2022 State TX | SG | Harker Heights
- An impressive athlete who has great length and frame for the wing position, Taylor is explosive on the court and has highlight plays playing above the rim. He can run and make plays in the transition game and be a threat as a shooter in the half court from both beyond-the-arc and from the mid-range. Taylor does a great job defensively using his length and athleticism to be an impact perimeter defender and also an active player on the glass.
Josh Goings Josh Goings 6'1" | PG Salado | 2022 State TX | PG | Salado
- A cool, calm, and collected point guard who plays with good pace, Goings did a little bit of everything for Salado leading the team to a 21-6 record and a district championship. Goings is a hard worker and it shows up on a consistent basis with his hustles plays and effort on defense. He’s also a playmaker on offense who can catch fire in any game, as he did several times this past season putting up 30+ point performances. Earned UIL 4A-Region 3 All-Region Team, First Team All-District 19-4A (MVP).
Nate Borchardt Nate Borchardt 6'1" | PG Lampasas | 2022 State TX | PG | Lampasas
- Borchardt broke onto the scene this season with his elite deep range shooting ability, and clutch late-game shots that led Lampasas to the playoffs with a 19-5 record. Borchardt possesses legit NBA shooting range and can hit shots off the dribble in the mid-range while having a quick trigger in catch-and-shoot spots from three-point range. Has good handles and is quick off the dribble, keeping defenders off balance due to his shooting capability. Earned UIL 4A-Region 1 All-Region Team, First Team All-District 6-4A (MVP).
Antwone Gonzales Antwone Gonzales 6'2" | CG Killeen Shoemaker | 2022 State TX | CG | Killeen Shoemaker
- A pure scorer who can play either guard spot, Gonzales led Shoemaker in scoring this past season averaging 17.7 points per game (23 games), while reaching 30+ points against Antonian Prep, Judson, and Allen. Gonzales can get to the rim and finish through contact or with acrobatic layups, and showed to be a good pull-up shooter who gets a good lift on his shot from three-point range. Makes good decisions on the court and has a smooth shot.
