Some of these prospects only had shortened seasons due to delayed starts, but all of them made their presence felt this winter, and have the potential to play at the next level.
Jalen Carlino Jalen Carlino 6'0" | PG Kenosha Bradford | 2022 State WI (5’11 2022 PG, Kenosha Bradford)- Not only did Jalen finish top-5 in the conference in scoring at 16.6 ppg, but he led the conference in assists at 4.4 per game. Jalen has a great feel for the game and plays with a nice change of pace to open things up off the dribble. He’s not the biggest or most athletic player on the floor, but his fundamentals and basketball IQ allow him to make big plays consistently. Jalen shot the ball at a high level all season, hitting pull-up threes and mid-ranges, and moving without the ball for catch-and-shoot threes. He shot 43.5% from beyond the arc, and also exceled at getting into the paint and dropping a dime to his teammates. After a nice sophomore season facilitating the ball, Jalen added a lot to his scoring arsenal to become one of the most dangerous offensive players in the conference. I’m looking forward to what he adds to his game going into his senior year.
Amari Jedkins Amari Jedkins 6'7" | PF Racine Case | 2022 State WI (6’8 2022 F, Racine Case)- In terms of potential, there aren’t many players who rank above Amari in the state, and he showed even more flashes of that scary potential this season as a junior. At around 6’8 he moves extremely well, and has the bounce to make big plays around the rim on both ends. He runs the floor in transition, and is now taking players off the dribble from the wing to get to the rim and finish. Amari put in a lot of off-season workouts with guards, and it showed as he is a more confident shooter from beyond the arc, and can handle the ball well for a 6’8 forward. Jedkins averaged 14.8 ppg while scoring 20+ three times during a shortened season for Case.
Darrien Long Darrien Long 6'5" | PF Racine Horlick | 2022 State WI (6’4 2022 SF, Racine Horlick)- Darrien Long Darrien Long 6'5" | PF Racine Horlick | 2022 State WI only got to play 7 games for Horlick this year due to a delayed start, but he made his presence felt by scoring just under 17 points a game. When it comes to elevating and finishing explosively above the rim, there aren’t many in the state who match Darrien. He can simply explode off of two feet and finish with power, and that explosiveness translates to being able to rebound the ball and guard taller forwards in the paint. Offensively he’s been working to add more to his perimeter game, and has shown promise pulling up off the dribble from mid-range. Darrien has a high ceiling as a prospect if he continues to work on his game this spring/summer.
Bryce Wallace (6’6 2022 F, Kenosha Indian Trail)- After playing JV last season as a sophomore, Bryce really began to burst onto the scene over the fall. Listed at 6’3 as a sophomore, Bryce now stands at 6’6 and has a lot of length. Although he still has some strength to put on, Bryce runs the floor like a deer and can explode off the floor to finish above the rim or block shots. This season he did most of his work in transition but was capable of hitting the open three or receiving a dump off pass and finishing in the paint. Defensively he’s extremely versatile as he can move his feet on the perimeter or use his length to contest around the rim. According to wissports.net he averaged 9.3 ppg with a career high 23 coming against Racine Case.
Isaac Verges (5’11 2022 PG, Franklin)- It seemed like every game I watched of Franklin this season, Isaac was consistently contributing. Playing for a team that was one win away from making the state tournament, Isaac was the steady hand with his shooting touch and secure ball handling. Isaac is a well-rounded athlete with a strong frame, and provided toughness on the defensive end while coming up with 1.5 steals per game. He facilitated the ball to all of the scoring weapons surrounding him, and was able to limit his turnovers. Isaac did a lot of his scoring from beyond the arc, where he shot 38% on his way to scoring 8.7 ppg. With Franklin graduating a lot of talent, Isaac is lined up to have a strong senior year next winter.
Terryon Brumby Terryon Brumby 6'0" | PG Racine Case | 2022 State WI (6’ 2022 G, Racine Case)- Had Case been able to play a full season, Terryon likely would’ve broken the 1,000 career point mark as just a junior. He’s been a double digit scorer for his whole career, and put up 16.5 ppg including highs of 26 and 25 as a junior. Terryon is a tough as nails guard with a quick burst to attack the basket and get to the rim. He has the strength and balance to finish through contact, and excels at drawing fouls to get to the line. Brumby showed off an improved shooting touch this season, and knocked down two 3’s per game on the year. Defensively he’s also able to use his quickness to apply heavy ball pressure and create turnovers leading to transition buckets.
Keviyon Price (6’4 2022 F, Kenosha Bradford)- Keviyon was able to take on a much bigger role this year for Bradford, and was a consistent producer for a talented team. He’s got some nice length at 6’4, and is a high effort player who contributes in the paint. Keviyon is a consistent finisher around the rim, with great hands to receive in the post and score in traffic. He also rebounded at a high level on both ends, leading to plenty of second chance buckets. Keviyon scored in double-figures in 12 of Bradford’s 16 games, good for an average of 11.9 ppg and 5.9 rpg for the junior forward.
