Continue ReadingWhich sophomores were able to raise their stock this season? Prep Hoops Wisconsin lists seven players that made their mark:
Mac Wrecke Mac Wrecke 6'5" | SG Arrowhead | 2023 State #272 Nation WI — SG — Arrowhead
I knew that Wrecke was a really good player who had a bright future in the sport. But I didn’t know that he was going to be this great. The shooting guard scored 24.9 points per game while leading Arrowhead to a 17-10 record. Wrecke is definitely a prospect that college programs need to keep an eye on this summer.
Milan Momcilovic Milan Momcilovic 6'8" | SF Pewaukee | 2023 State #44 Nation WI — SF — Pewaukee
Not only did Momcilovic lead his team to a Gold Ball at the end of the season, but he also (in my opinion) secured his spot as the top prospect in Wisconsin’s 2023 class. He averaged 16.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per contest. Pewaukee will be a top team in the state as long as Momcilovic is leading them.
Ashe Oglesby Ashe Oglesby 6'6" | PF The Prairie School | 2023 State WI — PF — The Prairie School
Oglesby was up and down this season, but when he was on, he was tremendous. Oglesby is a strong, athletic post player that can impose his will in the paint. In the 2020-21 season, the power forward scored 10.6 points and grabbed six boards per game.
Luther Smith Luther Smith 6'1" | SG Sussex Hamilton | 2023 State WI — SG — Sussex Hamilton
Smith showed some potential this past summer while playing on the Prep Hoops Circuit with ABC Young Lions. In his sophomore season, the shooting guard took his game to another level. Smith averaged 14.9 points per game while shooting an efficient percentage from the field.
Riley Brooks Riley Brooks 6'5" | SG Ripon | 2023 State #289 Nation WI — SG — Ripon
This season, Brooks proved that he is one of the most dangerous scorers in the state. The shooting guard scored 22.4 points per game on 44 percent shooting from the field. If the SG continues to make improvements in all areas of his game, I expect Brooks to become a superstar.
Demerius Shakur Demerius Shakur 6'2" | CG Martin Luther | 2023 State WI — PG — Martin Luther
Shakur is poised to become a really great player at the college level. He is a speedy point guard that can score, pass, and rebound. He averaged 12.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per contest. Watch out for this prospect in the spring/summer AAU season.
Jeremy Lorenz Jeremy Lorenz 6'8" | PF Brillion | 2023 State WI — PF — Brillion
I really think that Lorenz is only beginning to realize his true potential. The 6-foot-8 power forward is a matchup problem that opposing squads are going to have a tough time slowing down. In his sophomore season, Lorenz scored 19.1 points and snatched 10.5 rebounds per game. Another big spring/summer AAU season will surely put him on college coaches’ radar.
