Grandville (W) vs. East Kentwood
Tommy Gregwer Tommy Gregwer 6'3" | CG Grandville | 2021 State MI (2021, SG, Grandville)
Gregwer was even better than expected. I knew he was a stone cold shooter and he was indeed that in this game. His stroke is pure and confident. But what really impressed me was how active Gregwer was under the rim. He was able to attack the bucket and finish as well as pick up put back points.
Landon Regnarus Landon Regnarus 6'5" | PF Grandville | 2021 State MI (2021, F, Grandville)
Regnarus may not have blown up a stat sheet, but he did all the little things that lead to wins. He really made a difference on the defensive end where he got stops and forced a couple turnovers. Regnarus showed some real passing skill, including a beautiful post feed.
Christian Humphrey-Rembert Christian Humphrey-Rembert 6'8" | PF La Lumiere | 2024 #190 Nation IN (2024, F, East Kentwood)
Humphrey-Rembert reinforced the fact that he’s a threat to score from all over the court. He drained a corner triple, drew a foul on a drive, as well hit a spinning floater for 2. I liked what Humphrey-Rembert showed on the defensive end as well, where he sent a couple shots back to sender.
Josh Mayhue Josh Mayhue 6'1" | SG East Kentwood | 2021 State MI (2021, PG, East Kentwood)
Mayhue picked up steam as the game went on and ended up with a very solid night. He showed 3 point range on his jumper and got it off quick off the catch. Mayhue hit a huge catch and shoot triple to cut the team’s deficit to 4 with 4:05 left in the game. He was really good defensively slowing down penetration from the Grandville guards.
Ypsilanti (W) vs. Saline
Lucas Henderson Lucas Henderson 6'0" | PG Ypsilanti | 2021 State MI (2021, PG, Ypsilanti)
I’ve always liked Henderson’s game since the District tournament where he took Ypsilanti on his back and pushed eventual state champ, Ypsilanti-Lincoln. He showed excellent court vision in this game as well has a stutter step and head fake move that got him to the line. The ball just moves better for Ypsilanti when Henderson is in the game. Henderson had 17 points on the night.
Lance Maurer (2021, F, Ypsilanti)
Maurer played really well against Saline. He scored from the inside and the outside. He had multiple contested put backs as well multiple corner 3’s. Maurer finished with a game high 18 points.
Cooper Fairman Cooper Fairman 6'3" | SF Saline | 2022 State MI (2022, SF, Saline)
Fiarman is definitely rounding into form. He repeatedly gave a little shimmy and hit the lane running where he dished off to teammates. Fairman impressed me with his court vision throughout the game. He’s definitely a player to watch the rest of the year and beyond.
Jaden Pickett (2021, SG, Saline)
Pickett has an increased role this season and he seems to be doing well with it. He’s a confident 3 point shooter. I liked his ability to some pressure on the ball at the top and to threaten the passing lanes with his length. Pickett led the Hornets with 13 points.
