Basehor-Linwood’s 2-0 Weekend
The Bobcats picked up two double digit dominant wins over the weekend with wins over Leavenworth and Shawnee Heights.
Carter Bergman, 6’2 Guard, 2022: Bergman was big time in the 3rd quarter of the game Saturday against Shawnee Heights, scoring 10 points in the quarter and put on a moving without the ball show. He moves really well into open gaps and is a really solid cutter, and his teammates do a good job of trusting him and hitting him in good spots.
Ty Hofer, 6’4 Guard, 2022: Hofer has really picked up his play since the Winter Break, shooting over 50% from 3 since that time. Confidence has always been his biggest set back but he is playing as confident as ever and making teams pay from distance. He hit 5 three pointers on Saturday in the Bobcats route of the T-Birds and finished with 17 points.
Trevor Mcbride Trevor Mcbride 6'2" | CG Basehor Linwood | 2022 State KS , 6’2 Guard, 2022: The point guard stock for McBride should be trending upward big time, as he has been controlling tempo, making plays, and guarding the heck out of opponents lead guards at a high level in the last 7 games. He is almost back to 100% since tweaking an ankle against BVNW, and this weekend he showed his burst in the ankle and ability to drive both ways. Friday night he had 16 points and 6 steals in a win over Leavenworth and on Saturday had 7 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals in the win over Heights as he quietly kept control over the game and got his guys great looks from all over the floor.
Shawnee Mission Northwest Goes 2-0 and Overall Has Won 3 Straight
SMNW has the talent to make a big playoff run and is getting hot at the right time as their team stock is trending upwards. Picked up two big wins one in OT against a real good Desoto team and a win on Saturday against Olathe Northwest.
Billy Dillon, 5’11 Guard, 2021: The senior stepped up in the win over Olathe Northwest dropping a career high 20 points to help lead the way in the win. He also had 8 in the big win over Desoto. Dillon is a really steady guard and a great compliment to the really talented Damare Smith Damare Smith 5'10" | PG Shawnee Mission Northwest | 2022 State KS and the senior guard is showing that he wants his last year to end with a bang. Dillon will be a big piece to this talented puzzle as SMNW looks to make a run.
Damare Smith Damare Smith 5'10" | PG Shawnee Mission Northwest | 2022 State KS , 5’11 Guard, 2022: The standout junior point guard took over the second half of the ONW game on Saturday scoring 13 of his 15 in the second half and really setting the pace and leaving his stamp on a really solid win. Smith’s ability to control games as well as get rolling offensively with his scoring makes him a big time threat come sub state.
Hugoton Goes 2-0 Including a Huge Win Over Holcomb
Hugoton is loaded and really deep this year so they get contributions from a ton of guys. This weekend they managed to grab a big time win over a really good Holcomb team in a tight 72-62 game and then followed it up rolling over a solid Goodland team.
Jayce Korf Jayce Korf 6'2" | SG Lakin | 2021 State KS , 6’3 Guard, 2021: Korf is having himself a great senior campaign. Korf followed that up dropping 19 points in the win over Goodland. the 6’3 guard is an all around playmaker and is both a tough on ball guard and plays well without the ball in his hands.
Haden Daharsh, 6’1 Wing, 2021: Daharsh was big time in the primetime win over Holcomb, scoring 25 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in the contest. He was doing it from all over, corner catch and shoot 3’s, geting out in the break and converting tough and 1 finishes, and playing well in the half court attacking off the bounce. He has great size and strength and his physicality was one of the differences in that huge win.
Harper Sawyer, 6’1 Guard, 2021: Another senior that stepped up huge in the win over Holcomb was Sawyer, who drilled 4 big threes and finished with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. He has a sweet stroke from the 3 point line and showed the ability to hit shots off the move, stepping into them from the top, and stationary on catch and shoots.
