Camden Heide Camden Heide 6'7" | SF Wasatch Academy | 2022 State #129 Nation UT (6’6 2022 W, Wayzata)- Heide turned in a really well-rounded performance on his way to a 21 point finish in Wayzata’s win over Edina. At 6’6 he has a really quick burst from the wing that allows him to blow by smaller guards and get to the basket to score. He’s extremely patient with the ball in his hands, and did a good job of choosing high percentage opportunities rather than trying to force things every time he touched the ball. His ability to explode around the basket, weave through defenders in transition, and shoot it with touch from beyond the arc combine to make him a dangerous player offensively.
Willie Wilson Willie Wilson 6'2" | CG Minneapolis North | 2022 State MN (6’3 2022 G, Minneapolis North)- Willie Wilson Willie Wilson 6'2" | CG Minneapolis North | 2022 State MN looks to be sliding into more of a lead guard role this season with Minneapolis North, and he impressed with his ability to get his teammates good looks while also remaining his usual threat to score the ball. Willie did such a good job of getting into the gaps in the defense and then absorbing contact around the rim or threading the needle to his bigs in the paint for easy scores. He had a few of his patented transition buckets, and also hit a nice step-back three in the second half on his way to 19 points.
Terrence Brown Terrence Brown 6'0" | PG Columbia Heights | 2022 State MN (5’11 2022 PG, Columbia Heights)- Terrence Brown Terrence Brown 6'0" | PG Columbia Heights | 2022 State MN just continues to show his improvements at the point guard spot for one of the top teams in Class AAA. He doesn’t always impact the game scoring the ball, but finds other ways to help his team win. Against DeLaSalle, it was his vocal leadership and ball security that helped Columbia Heights win. Offensively he’s extremely unselfish, and was able to dish out 6 assists by finding his shooters or dishing out a last second pass to a slashing teammate in transition. On the defensive end he’s a scrappy player who applies constant ball pressure, and really disrupted opposing ball handlers on the night.
Gabe Jobe (5’10 2022 G, Edina)- Edina was sticking with Wayzata for the majority of their game, and it was the shooting touch of Gabe Jobe that had them right there with one of the state’s best teams. The quick lefty has an unorthodox release, but was able to get into space and fire off his high arcing three at a high percentage on the night for his 20 points. Gabe also showed some flashes as a pick and roll ball handler, able to zip in bounces to his cutting post, or turn the corner and get to the rim with a burst of quickness. He showed no fear going up to finish over size, absorbing contact and then extending outwards to finish over length.
Jerome Williams Jr. (5’8 2024 PG, Minneapolis South)- As just a freshman Jerome is already making a big impact at the varsity level, and even scored 17 points against one of the best teams in the state in Minneapolis North. Jerome is lightning quick in the half-court, and can absolutely fly up the floor in transition. Despite his smaller stature, Jerome applies constant ball pressure with his quickness, and fights to get over ball screens. In the half-court he has deep range beyond the arc, and is capable of getting open looks off the dribble or by moving without the ball.
Nasir Whitlock Nasir Whitlock 6'2" | PG Delasalle | 2023 State MN (6’ 2023 G, DeLaSalle)- Scoring a team high 23 points against Columbia Heights, Nasir did damage from the perimeter and around the rim. The Heights’ defense is among the toughest in the state, and it was Nasir who showed no fear using his patience and change of pace to get to the rim for some tough scores. Nas did a good job of passing and relocating to catch his defender off guard and get into space to get off a shot, and picked up a steal leading to a transition bucket in the second half of the close game.
CJ O’Hara CJ O’Hara 6'4" | SF Park Center | 2023 State #285 Nation MN (6’4 2023 W, Totino-Grace)- CJ O’Hara CJ O’Hara 6'4" | SF Park Center | 2023 State #285 Nation MN simply produces each time he touches the basketball floor. Though his production comes in many shapes and forms, in a win over Blaine it was his scoring ability that stood out. CJ put up a season high 20 points on the night, using his slashing ability to get to the rim and finish at a high percentage. CJ ran the floor hard in transition, made off-ball cuts, attacked from the wing, and grabbed offensive boards to consistently get looks in the pain. He even showcased a smooth Euro-step in the lane before scoring with touch. An impressive showing from the sophomore.
