Classes 1A and 2A wrapped up their regular seasons last week, and are set to begin postseason play on Monday night. Class 3A and 4A will wrap up their final regular season games this week. Below are the final team rankings for Class 1A and 2A, and the second-to-last set of rankings in 3A and 4A.
There were no changes in the final rankings in Class 1A, as the ten ranked teams went a combined 19-0 last week. North Linn (21-0) enters the postseason as the state’s top-ranked team in the class, followed by Martensdale-St. Marys (20-0), Lake Mills (21-0), Springville (20-2) and Wapsie Valley (16-4).
In Class 2A, defending champion Boyden-Hull (21-0) enters postseason play as the top-ranked team. Dike-New Hartford (18-2) and Des Moines Christian (18-2) each moved up a spot to #2 and #3, respectively, following a loss by then-#2 Western Christian (16-5), who fell to #5. Aplington-Parkersburg (18-3) rounds out the top five, coming in at #4. Albia (17-2) re-enters the rankings at #10.
The top five teams remain the same in Class 3A, led by top-ranked Ballard (18-1). A pair of WaMaC teams enter the rankings this week, with Mount Vernon (14-5) coming in at #8 and Clear Creek-Amana (15-5) at #10.
Cedar Falls (15-0) stays at the top of the rankings in Class 4A, followed by Waukee (11-2). Council Bluffs Lincoln (15-3), Hempstead (14-3) and Valley (14-3) each moved up a spot this week to round out the top five. Kennedy (13-6) enters the rankings this week at #9.
