Off to their best start in school history, Sonoraville has been paced by Orry Darnell, a savvy guard and extension of Coach Brent Mashburn. Darnell is fundamentally sound, using pump fakes and good footwork to get defenders off balance. He does a nice job at getting to his spots and can hit from the mid-range and beyond. He uses some craftiness to work his way to the hoop and finish inside. Aside from his scoring, Darnell has good vision as a distributor. He’s able to make his teammates better by putting them in places where they can succeed. In crunch time, Darnell has an uncanny ability to make whatever plays are needed to secure the victory. He should be on D-III radars.
2021 6-2 W Murray Somers – Sonoraville
Somers is an interesting prospect. He’s got a college-ready body and can score inside and out. At 6-foot-2, Somers plays bigger than his size. He does yeoman’s work on the boards and has a soft touch around the rim. Murray has the strength to take bumps when getting to the basket and can finish through contact. Somers can space the floor and hit the three. What stood out most was his stoic demeanor. Sommers never gets too high or too low and is always focused at the task at hand.
2021 6-4 F Kevin Morrison – Sonoraville
Another versatile scorer, Kevin Morrison is a floor spacing big man that can shoot from distance. He can pull out opposing defenders and put them in uncomfortable guarding the perimeter. Morrison is a rugged rebounder. He has quality length and can use it to earn back taps.
2023 6-1 PG Jamichael Davis Jamichael Davis 6'1" | PG McEachern | 2023 State #263 Nation GA – Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe
Jamichael Davis Jamichael Davis 6'1" | PG McEachern | 2023 State #263 Nation GA has a chance to be special. He’s an elite athlete that can bounce out of the gym. He’s great in transition, able to get a head of steam and blow past the defense. What rounds out Davis’ game is his all-around skill. He has a steady floor-game that allows him to impact contests without scoring. Davis is always a triple-double threat with his rebounding, vision and defensive prowess. He will need to add in a perimeter shot to reach his potential, but he looks like he has the makings of becoming a very sought-after prospect.
2023 6-3 F Amari Burnett – Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe
Amari Burnett injured his knee mid-way through the third quarter against Sonoraville, changing momentum and zapping the Warriors of their leading scorer. Burnett posted 14 points and was having his way inside. He’s a strong-bodied forward with burly shoulders. He can bang inside and eliminate second chance opportunities. Burnett has quality footwork on the low block and uses his body to score up close but he’s also able to stretch the floor and use his lefty stroke to hurt teams from the three-point line.
2021 6-2 F Dee Calhoun – Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe
The athleticism, length and energy of Dee Calhoun caused problems for Sonoraville. Calhoun is a springy forward that plays larger than his size. He was effective on the glass. Calhoun showed some touch, hitting a three and a mid-range jumper. Defensively he can guard multiple positions and can earn deflections.
