Shane Lancaster Shane Lancaster 6'4" | CG St. John's | 2022 State MD is reinforcing his credentials as a legitimate mid-major division one prospect with upside. The versatile 6-foot-4 combo guard told Prep Hoops that he is hearing from programs such as Columbia, Loyola (MD), UNC Greensboro, Mount St. Mary’s, and Navy. Lancaster recently made his debut at the St. James Winter with the DC Cadets and led his team to a comprehensive win over WDBA. He’s a good rebounding guard who embraces contact when finishing in traffic. Lancaster does the little things like take charges and reverse the ball. He is also a reliable perimeter shooter.
WDBA had a couple of 2022 prospects worth noting. Reis Jones Reis Jones 6'10" | C Flint Hill | 2022 State VA is a rare breed around these parts. Standing about 6-foot-7 with long limbs, he is a traditional big man whose best trait is his ability to protect the rim. Jones recorded multiple blocks and altered several other shots against the DC Cadets. His teammate, Matthew Gray Matthew Gray 6'7" | SF Flint Hill | 2022 State VA , is developing into an interesting long-term prospect. Gray is a rangy 6-foot-5 wing who guards multiple positions. On the offensive side, he is mainly a slasher but showed the potential to handle the ball under pressure, run ball screens, and find the open man.
EHS Elite has a pair of 2022 prospects that small colleges should be all over. John Loughlin John Loughlin 6'1" | CG Episcopal | 2022 State VA is as good a shooter as you will find in Northern Virginia. He is also tough as nails and demonstrates a high basketball IQ. Charlie Jackson Charlie Jackson 6'5" | PF Episcopal | 2022 State VA is a bit of a late bloomer who is coming on of late. He’s a slender but broad-shouldered left-hander who stands about 6-foot-4 and can guard a few positions. Jackson is a sniper from long range who sets his feet quickly and is always shot ready. He mentioned hearing from several high academic D3s such as Franklin & Marshall.
The pool of high-level talent in the local 2024 class continues to broaden. The DC Cadets have showcased three freshmen, not on our watch list, who are all in the rotation. Dajun Ruggs, a highly touted football recruit, has logged heavy minutes at the lead guard spot. Ruggs is a compact guard with burst and two-way playmaking ability. Nate Guerengomba is the ultimate glue guy who does all the little things. He is robustly built at about 6-foot-5 and moves well for his size. Acaden Lewis is a smooth lefty who can shoot from the perimeter but also likes to mix it up with floaters. He is a good rebounding guard who plays with effort and shares the ball with his teammates.
