While still a long way to go, we wanted to take this time to recognize some of the players putting together monster statistical seasons. In this article, we take a look at the assist leaders in the state.
Paora Winitana Paora Winitana 6'6" | PG American Heritage | 2021 State UT 6’6 PG American Heritage 2021 (#36PHU 2021) – Note to self, don’t miss a Winitana game. The versatile point forward has stuffed the stat sheet in nearly every category, that includes assist. Winitana has put up some big-time assist numbers including a 12 and 13 assist game, both coinciding with triple-doubles.
Grady Thompson Grady Thompson 6'2" | CG Manti | 2021 State UT 6’2 CG Manti 2021 (#102PHU 2021) – When Thompson gets on a roll, he can really rack up the assist. He’s averaging almost 7 assist per game, but he really went on a tear in the middle of the year, getting 48 assists over a 4 game stretch.
Quentin Meza Quentin Meza 6'0" | PG Cyprus | 2023 State UT 5’11 PG Cyprus 2023 (#9PHU 2023) (featured image) – The Qball is putting together a phenomenal season. In addition to his scoring, he’s averaging nearly 7 assist per game. The sophomore PG has had 4 double-digit games this season, including back-to-back 12 assist masterpieces over Farmington and Riverton respectively.
Tanner Church 5’11 PG Brighthorn 2021 – Church has played right up to his nearly 6 assist per game. You can almost slot him down for exactly that every night. Church has picked up at least 5 assist in 12 of his 15 games on the season.
Jordan Barnes Jordan Barnes 6'4" | PG Olympus | 2024 State UT 6’0 PG Olympus 2024 (#8PHU 2024) – Saw Barnes this fall and was impressed by him. He has backed up his strong grassroots play with a strong start to his high school career. While he’s averaging just over 6apg, the freshmen PG has really been on a tear lately averaging over 8 assist per game in his last 10 games.
