A lot of good players have great nights, followed by not-so-great nights. Sometimes it’s because of their style of play, or how their teams use them. But some guys are just steady as a clock. You can always count on them.
Here are some Topekans known for their consistency:
Harvey Davis, senior, Shawnee Heights:
There’s no doubt about this guy’s consistency. He’s been a rock for Shawnee Heights ever since his freshman year. He doesn’t do anything flashy, but he’s always there, ready to battle inside against bigger players. He has scored between 10 and 15 points in most games this year, and that has been the story of his career.

High’s season hasn’t gone as they would have hoped. But that was sort of to be expected after graduation wiped out their squad. Smith, a key piece of some really successful squads, was left to lead the way this year, and he’s been a model of consistency. With just one outlier – the 29 he poured in against Washburn Rural recently – he’s been really predictably in the same range scoring every night – between 13 and 19 on most nights.

Marque Wilkerson, senior, Topeka West:
Wilkerson is a guy you might have expected consistency from, but not consistent stardom! But he’s been consistently great ever since he really established himself in January. He had scored between 21 and 27 points in seven of the last eight games prior to Monday’s win over Washburn Rural, when he was limited to 17.
Noah HastertNoahHastert6'6" | CCair Paravel | 2022StateKS, junior, Cair Paravel:
Hastert’s scoring numbers are remarkably consistent game in, game out. He’s only been held to single-digit once, and he is between 13 and 19 pretty much every time out.
Joe Berry

Berry’s numbers might fluctuate a little, but never his effort. One of the toughest and most determined players you’ll find, Berry does everything for the Junior Blues, leading with all-out intensity. His scoring totals took a dip a couple of times this season, and he has the occasional scoring outburst too. But he rarely is held in single-digits and is pretty routine in the 15-19 points per game range.
