He was definitely the hero of the night, but check out all these performances:
Ty Henry Ty Henry 6'3" | SG Seaman | 2022 State KS , junior, Seaman (pictured):
Henry rebounded from a poor effort against Highland Park last Friday by stepping up at both ends on Tuesday in a big upset of Washburn Rural. The win is a feather in the cap for the Vikings who, at 7-8, are drastically improved over last season. Henry made two huge blocks on the perimeter, and was efficient on offense. He hit 9-13 from the field and finished with 22 points.
Casen Stallbaumer, junior, Seaman:
The tough rebounder and defender was clutch in the upset of Washburn Rural. The 6-foot-3 junior patrolled the lane, shutting down the Rural inside game. Offensively, he hit 2-3 from the field and connected on a 3-pointer. He also hit 4-4 from the line for 9 points.
Joe Berry Joe Berry 6'4" | CG Washburn Rural | 2021 State KS , senior, Washburn Rural:
Berry can’t be happy to have two 3-point shots blocked in crunch time. But he was most of the offense for the Junior Blues in the disappointing loss. Berry hit 9-16 from the field and 4-4 from the line to register 25 points. The versatile Berry had one of his best offensive outings of his senior year, topped only by the 29 he scored against Junction City.
Marque Wilkerson, senior, Topeka West:
Topeka West, #7 in 5A, continued its roll toward the postseason with its new leader, Wilkerson at the fore. His versatility allows him to provide something different every night. Tuesday, he hit four 3-pointers en route to 26 points. It was his sixth 20-plus performance in the last seven outings.
Mu’Khajhae Daniels, senior, Highland Park:
Daniels is a steadying influence on the talented Scots team. He is consistent and productive night in and night out. He handles the ball, scores when the opportunity presents itself, and provides veteran leadership. The 6-foot senior produced 11 points against Emporia and 15 against Topeka High in back-to-back nights.
Jayden Leesman, senior, Topeka High:
The senior guard has assumed leadership of the Trojans in the last month. Though Topeka High struggles to pick up wins, Leesman is putting a mature effort on the floor every night. He hit 7-8 from the field and finished with 17 in the loss to Highland Park.
Luke Fay, sophomore, Cair Paravel:
The Lions fell apart in the fourth quarter, blowing a lead against Veritas. The sharp-shooting Fay did his best by hitting three 3-pointers and tallying 18 points in the disappointing loss.
