Northview 61, Grand Rapids Union 36
Kyler Vanderjagt Kyler Vanderjagt 6'4" | 195 lbs | SF Northview | 2022 State MI , 6’4″ G/F, Northview 2022″
Kyler led the Wildcats with 18 points in Northview’s win over Union. He got things going early, specifically driving the ball through the Red Hawk defense. Kyler also flashed his shooting stroke from the perimeter and did a great job limiting Union’s offensive attack.
Da’Quin Freeman, 6’2″ G, Grand Rapids Union 2021″
Da’Quin played a solid game for Union, scoring 18 points for the Red Hawks. Da’Quin was able to penetrate Northview’s defense and get to the rim time and time again. The Red Hawks trailed from the jump in this one but Da’Quin’s aggressive play was a constant throughout the game.
Jalen Charity Jalen Charity 6'5" | CG Northview | 2022 State MI , 6’5″ G, Northview 2022″
Jalen brought a ton of intensity to the game early on, throwing down three dunks in the first quarter. It wasn’t the biggest stat game for Jalen, but his ability to stretch the defense brings a ton of upside to Northview’s offense.
EJ Ryans, 6’1″ G, Northview 2024″
The freshman guard flashed a ton of potential in Northview’s win, scoring an efficient 13 points. EJ picked his spots well and facilitated to his teammates without forcing the issue. He’s a great backcourt addition to one of the best teams in the area and should be someone to keep an eye on as he continues his development.
Tyran Thomas Tyran Thomas 6'4" | SG Northview | 2023 State MI , 6’3″ G, Northview 2023″
Tyran’s athleticism stood out on both sides of the ball. He attacked the glass aggressively and limited Union’s second-chance points throughout the game.
Detroit Douglass 60, Benton Harbor 53
Pierre Brooks Pierre Brooks 6'5" | SG Detroit Douglass | 2021 State #76 Nation MI II, 6’6″ G/F, Detroit Douglass 2021″
Pierre looked every bit of his top-100 national ranking against Benton Harbor. The senior was harassed with double teams and full-court pressure all game and it didn’t make much of a difference. Pierre finished with 29 points to lead all scorers. Pierre knocked down some ridiculous perimeter shots from well-beyond the line, and muscled his way through multiple defenders, scoring at will in the paint.
Malik Smith, 6’1″ G, Detroit Douglass
Malik made a lot of timely plays on both sides of the ball for Douglass. He knocked down perimeter jumpers when called upon and was able to stay in front of Benton Harbors guards for much of the game.
Kentrell Pullian Kentrell Pullian 6'0" | CG Benton Harbor | 2021 State MI , 6’0″ G, Benton Harbor 2021″
Kentrell’s quickness and ball handling stood out as he was able to knife through defenders and get quality shots, leading the Tigers with 16 points. Kentrell also showed a lot of hustle and endurance, playing full-court defense for the majority of the game.
Chris Moore Chris Moore 6'6" | SF State MI , 6’1″ G, Benton Harbor 2021″
Chris nearly brought back the Tigers single-handily in the second half, as he went on a 10-0 run by himself to get the Tigers within striking distance.
Williamston 46, Forest Hills Northern 44
Trinidad Chambliss Trinidad Chambliss 6'2" | PG Forest Hills Northern | 2021 State MI , 6’1 G, Forest Hills Northern 2021
Trinidad did a great job penetrating the Williamston defense with his dribble drives, drawing contact, and getting high-percentage shots up. He led the Huskies with 14 points in the loss.
Cole Rynbrandt, 6’4″ F, Forest Hills Northern 2021″
Cole played a great two-way game for the Huskies, scoring 12 points and providing solid defense against Williamston’s daunting front court. Cole did a good job of defending without fouling, and grabbed a ton of 50/50 balls off the glass.
Jacob Wallace Jacob Wallace 6'4" | CG Williamston | 2022 State MI , 6,4″ G, Williamston 2022″
Jacob got things going in the second half, fueling Williamston’s comeback run with timely shots. His 15 points were a game high. Jacob also played well on the defensive end, keeping Forest Hills Nothern’s backcourt in front of him for the majority of the game.
Max Burton Max Burton 6'10" | SF Williamston | 2022 State MI , 6’10″ F, Williamston 2022″
Max added 11 points for the Hornets, showing off his ability to score in the low post with a variety of quick moves. Max also showed nice touch from the elbow extended, knocking down some much needed buckets for Williamston in the second half.
Brandon Hunt Brandon Hunt 6'7" | PF Williamston | 2021 State MI , 6’8″ F, Williamston 2021″
Brandon scored 11 points for Williamston, going to work in the low post for a variety of efficient scores. Brandon also did a good job providing solid defense against Northern’s ball-screen sets.
