Not cool:
#3 Cheylin, #4 St. Francis, #8 Logan-Palco and #9 Northern Valley are on a collision course, each in the same Rexford Sub-State. That means that there will be some disappointed teams going home from sub-state. But it shows basketball is strong out in the west. Cheylin is led by senior Colton McCarty. He’s scoring 19.5 points and pulling in 9.5 boards a game. St. Francis’ sophomore Ben Busse is a player on the rise.
Xander Newberry leads #1 Attica:
The 6-foot junior is averaging 18.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He is athletic and versatile, and experienced as one of 1A’s best football/basketball combos.
Emmitt Jueneman Emmitt Jueneman 6'1" | SF Hanover | 2022 State KS is a player to watch:
Hanover has a lot of athletes and everyone plays a part. But when Hanover is actually challenged, Jueneman steps up. He is a scorer and more. He rebounds, defends, handles the ball and gets others involved.
Another tough matchup:
#5 Peabody-Burns and #6 McPherson-Elyria Christian are in the same Sub-State, along with perennial power Central Plains.
Points promised:
Some guys lighting up 1A scoreboards include Cooper Wolf, South Haven (25 ppg), Alec Carlson, Pawnee Heights (24.7 ppg) and Kash McPhail, Ashland (19.5 ppg).
