Barnhizer Becomes Jeff All-Time Leading Scorer
Brooks Barnhizer Brooks Barnhizer 6'5" | SF Lafayette Jeff | 2021 State #203 Nation IN is the top scorer in the state at 34.6 per game. He is also fifth in steals, fifth in assists, eighth in blocks, and twelfth in rebounds. This stat-stuffing season has him right in the conversation for Indiana Mr. Basketball. Barnhizer also hit another milestone on Saturday as his 31 point performance gave him 1,601 in his three seasons at Lafayette Jeff. This total makes him the all-time leading scorer in Lafayette Jeff basketball history. In addition to his three years at Jeff, Barnhizer played varsity basketball for Alma Bryant in Alabama while he was in seventh, eighth, and ninth grades. Combining his 1,045 points at Alma Bryant puts him at 2,646 points for his career. Northwestern is getting an outstanding scorer, and definitely the player who would receive my vote for Indiana Mr. Basketball at this point in the season.
Blackmon Tops 2,000 Points
Jalen Blackmon Jalen Blackmon 6'2" | PG Marion | 2021 State #244 Nation IN has been very good this season, averaging 31 points per game, and his 38 and 26 point performances this week put him up to 2,025 points for his career. Blackmon passed his dad earlier in the season for most career points in school history, and with this new milestone, he becomes the first Marion Giant to reach the 2,000 point threshold for a career. He is also just 15 points away from breaking into the top 50 for the all-time leading scorers in the Indiana basketball history. Grand Canyon is getting an outstanding scorer with tons of talent, and Blackmon is in line for a great career at the next level.
Moore Leads Evansville North
Evansville North took down their rival, Evansville Central, 63-59 thanks to a monster performance by Huskies’ senior, Chandler Moore Chandler Moore 6'4" | SF Evansville North | 2021 State IN . Moore led the way with 28 points and 7 rebounds, and he hit the game-winning shot from the elbow with just under 10 seconds to go. This win improved the Huskies to 5-1 in the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference to keep their title hopes alive. Currently, Evansville Reitz is 6-0, Castle is 5-0, and Evansville North is 5-1. All three teams have at least three conference games remaining, so the SIAC title is wide-open. Evansville North will be back in action next at Vincennes Lincoln on Tuesday, but the biggest game going forward will be Friday as the Huskies host Castle.
