Tale of Two Halves in North Gem’s Close Victory
Two of the top 1A players in the area put on a show, with James Bodily James Bodily 6'2" | SF North Gem | 2021 State ID ’s 27 points for North Gem narrowly outshining Gage Stoddard Gage Stoddard 5'11" | PG Grace | 2021 State ID ’s 25 for Grace. Bodily and North Gem came out with the 66-64 road victory.
The game went the way of the two stars, as Bodily’s 20 points in the first half and Stoddard scored 18 in the second half. Both utilized all of their versatility in their games to come out and battle each other. Bodily came out fast but Stoddard finished strong.
Bridger Hatch Bridger Hatch 5'9" | PG North Gem | 2022 State ID and Logan Corta Logan Corta 6'1" | SG North Gem | 2021 State ID combined to score 17 of North Gem’s 22 points in the fourth quarter as the Cowboys barely held on in front of a raucous road crowd. The game was nothing short of a battle.
North Gem finishes the regular season 18-2 and will be the No. 2 seed in the 1A DII District 5-6 tournament. There two defeats came at the hands of Watersprings.
Preston Shoots Lights Out Inside the Arc
Preston closed out its regular season schedule by pulling away from Burley at home in a 56-33 victory.. Preston ended their regular season on a six game winning streak and sweeping the season series against Burley.
It was a balanced offensive attack for Preston, which got 16 points from Gabe Hammons, 14 from Braden Hess, 11 from Brecker Knapp and eight from Cole Harris. The Indians were efficient from the field as they knocked down 19 of 30 field goal attempts from inside the arc.
In order for Preston to be lethal in the postseason, it will be coming from a balanced attack offensively. Opposing defenses will struggle to handle them if they get all of this production.
