Recruiting Updates (Early February)
Scan the latest recruiting information from Tennessee. The Hamilton brothers picked a coveted JuCo offer Wednesday.
Jordan Hamilton Jordan Hamilton 6'4" | SG Fayette Ware | 2021 State TN (Fayette Ware) added a Columbia State offer Wednesday late afternoon. “Jordan can score from all 3 levels,” shared Fayette Ware Head Coach Demarius Chearis. “He’s always poised and under control.” Walters State also offered Jordan earlier.
Jaylan Wetzel Jaylan Wetzel 6'1" | SG Siegel | 2021 State TN (Siegel) maintains an offer from Roane State. Martin Methodist and Lee University check on him periodically.
Kendall Hamilton (Fayette Ware) earned an offer from Columbia State Wednesday. Fayette Ware is currently 7-7, 5-2 despite enduring perhaps the most difficult Class AA schedule in the state thus far. “Kendall has a soft touch around the basket but can stretch the floor if needed,” said Fayette Ware Head Coach Demarius Chearis.
Justin Sharp Justin Sharp 5'10" | PG South Gibson County | 2021 State TN (Hardin Valley Academy) earned All-District 4AAA last winter and continues to improve. He earned his very first college offer just this week! The University of the Cumberlands offered to have Justin join their basketball program. He also keeps in regular contact with Huntingdon College (AL) and Berry College (FL).
Classic wing scorer Willie Walton (Lipscomb Academy) hears from Lee University and several other colleges. As exceptional as he is on the baseball field Walton describes basketball as “my first sport I loved.” He made initial contact with a handful of D1 programs but labels those are very, very early contact.
Grant Strong Grant Strong 6'4" | SG Clay County | 2022 State TN (Clay County) is a wonderful college prospect with gaudy statistics. Strong hears consistently from Belmont, Davidson, Appalachian State, and UNC Greensboro. Tennessee Tech and Eastern Kentucky are quite new to the pursuit. Those two programs expressed interest via contact from their head coaches, which always indicates an elevated level of interest.
Zach Amonett Zach Amonett 6'2" | PG Pickett County | 2022 State TN (Pickett County) lists three schools as the most aggressive: Missouri Western, UMKC, UC Irvine. Amonett is hard-nosed, hyper-skilled point guard. Revered midwestern basketball scout Rick Bolus labeled Zach a D1 prospect during middle school and his keen eye was not wrong. Amonett does keep in touch with Lipscomb, Western Kentucky, Carson Newman (D2), Appalachian State, and Newberry College (D2). Further, Belmont and Samford are aware and reach out occasionally.
