But first, district play matchups which kicked off Friday night with the play-in games in Class A districts 1-3, and culminating with all of the Class A District final matchups taking place on Monday night March 1st. I will preview players to watch across all seven Class A districts. Let’s continue with District A5
Jayden Dawson Jayden Dawson 6'4" | CG Omaha Central | 2022 State NE – 6’4 Junior Guard – Omaha Central
When Jayden Dawson Jayden Dawson 6'4" | CG Omaha Central | 2022 State NE gets going, Omaha Central is a tough team to beat. One of the better shooters in the state, Dawson shoots just a tad under 40% from 3 this season. He’s shown the ability to make 3’s off the dribble as well as catch and shoot shots with his quick release. It seems as though he only takes smart shots. Dawson is also very athletic and can dunk the ball on a drive, as well as play scrappy defense on the other end of the floor.
Daniel Brocaille Daniel Brocaille 6'4" | SF Papio South | 2022 State NE – 6’5 Junior Guard/Forward – Papillion La-Vista South
Brocaille is a tough-as-nails guard/forward who has definitely blossomed as a scorer throughout his junior campaign for the Titans. He is not afraid to put his head down and drive to the rim to finish through contact. He’s also shown the ability to shoot it well from beyond the arc as well. Overall, Brocaille’s game is very smooth and fundamentally sound. He will certainly be the go-to guy for Papio South this postseason. I look forward to seeing Brocaille’s game develop over this coming summer and next year.
Jared Bohrer Jared Bohrer 5'10" | CG Lincoln Pius | 2022 State NE – 6’0 Junior Guard – Lincoln Southwest
Jared Bohrer Jared Bohrer 5'10" | CG Lincoln Pius | 2022 State NE is one of the better shooters in the state of Nebraska. Shooting just a touch under 40% from 3 point range. Bohrer is part of a 3 headed Lincoln Southwest backcourt where each of the three guards does something different to help the Silverhawks go. He’s also a pretty solid defender as well and can be a pest on that end of the floor when he wants to be.
Ben Hunzeker Ben Hunzeker 6'3" | SG Lincoln Southwest | 2022 State NE – 6’3 Junior Guard – Lincoln Southwest
Another guard in Southwest’s three-headed backcourt is fellow junior guard Ben Hunzeker Ben Hunzeker 6'3" | SG Lincoln Southwest | 2022 State NE . He’s the ultimate glue guy for the Silverhawks. Always making the smart play, diving on the floor for loose balls, and setting his feet to take some charges every now and again. Hunzeker also is a skilled driver and cutter with and without the basketball in his hands. Southwest’s opening round matchup with Papio South will be one of the better games of the weekend in part because of the two teams both having tough guards including both Jared Bohrer Jared Bohrer 5'10" | CG Lincoln Pius | 2022 State NE and Ben Hunzeker Ben Hunzeker 6'3" | SG Lincoln Southwest | 2022 State NE .
Lukas Kocher – 6’1 Senior Guard – Omaha Burke
Kocher is the go-to guy for Omaha Burke’s offense. A solid and tough guard, Kocher plays hard and makes smart decisions as an off guard for the Bulldogs. Kocher shoots it well from beyond the arc, as well as being a hard-nosed driver to the basket. He’s an overall tough guard who usually makes the right move or the right play for the Bulldogs.
