While we were unable to physically be in attendance, the BallerTV live stream allowed us to get a closer look at the strong amount of California-based prospects who attended the event. Below are some of the players who stood out.
Kristopher Krause, 2022, Bihop Montgomery – Krause showed that he has the ability to do a lot of different things on the basketball court. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard can stroke the three-point shot off the catch, off the bounce, and when stepping into his shot off of a high ball screen. But what makes Krause an intriguing prospect – like most of his other Bishop Montgomery counterparts – is that he does the small but high basketball IQ things on both ends of the floor to help his team win, whether it’s an offensive rebound put-back, extra pass to a teammate or finding a way to come up with a defensive stop.
Ty Virgil, 2024, Southern California Academy – Virgil is a super crafty and super confident lefty guard who has shown he can score the basketball in a variety of ways. The 6-foot-3 freshman has deep and consistent range on his three-point shot, but also has the ball skills, change of speeds and direction and stop-and-go creativity to break down defenders in isolation to get into the key and create for himself or teammates.
AK Okereke, 2021, Clovis North – Okereke remains an under-the-radar prospect in Central California’s 2021 crop of talent as his mobility and fluid athleticism, combined with his strength and size at 6-feet-6, makes him a high-upside guy at the next level. Okereke showed rebound, push and finish or dish ability in transition, but also provides and inside-out scoring presence in the half-court setting.
Isaiah Williams, 2022, Oak Park – Williams could have been a breakout guy in the Ventura County area had we been able to have a normal season. The 6-foot-1 guard has great court awareness in the half-court setting as he recognizes cutters, driving lanes to take advantage of and doesn’t force too many actions outside the flow of his team. Williams has good speed when exploding into driving lanes and finishes well around the basket with either hand.
