With no high school basketball in Nevada, many teams have been forced to get creative in order to compete. The Nevada Small School Showcase is a perfect example of that creativity. Taking place on Saturday, February 13th, the event was a round-robin event featuring teams from the 3A and 2A division of the state. In this article, we take a look at some of the standouts on the day.
Jordan ClemonsJordanClemons5'7" | PGSlam | 2021StateNV 5’8 PG Toros 2021 - Clemons was terrific on the day. The two way PG, was impressive with his quickness and overall athletic ability. His right to let COD is legit, and he used it to get by defenders and get into the lane. Perhaps his best trait was his 2nd jump ability, he used it to grab several offensive rebounds and to put back for baskets.
Noa Del PozoNoaDel Pozo6'2" | PGSLAM | 2021StateNV 6’2 SG Toros 2021 (#75PHN 2021) - I’m so happy I got to see NDP before the rankings are released. He’s going to rise. I knew he could shoot it, but was blown away with his size and athleticism. He’s a legit threat to catch a body and has a strap from behind the arc.

I knew he could shoot it, but was blown away with his size and athleticism. He’s a legit threat to catch a body and has a strap from behind the arc. He plays off the ball most of the time, but he has the handles and quickness to be a combo or play some 1.
Will BarnumWillBarnum6'0" | PGVirgin Valley | 2021StateNV 6’0 PG Valley Dawgs 2021 (#87PHN 2021) - He will be on my wired to score team. Barnum can score in a variety of ways. Give him space and he’ll bury a 3. Crowd him and he can blow by and get to the rim. He plays with good change of pace and is creative when it comes to finishing around the rim. Barnum used hesitations to get by, and runners and floaters to get buckets.
Kobe Kelley
KobeKelley5'10" | PGLincoln Co | 2021StateNV 5’9 PG Redcats 2021 (#85PHN 2021) (featured image) - Sniper Alert! Kelley is the type of guy that is going to be getting buckets in some men’s league 20 years from now. A shooters shooter, Kelley does not need much space to get his shot off. He was awesome on the day coming off screens, or sitting stationary in catch and shoot situations.
Cameron ReeseCameronReese6'5" | SFMoapa Valley | 2021StateNV 6’5 SF MV Ball Brothers 2021 (#86PHN 2021) - I made the mistake of pigeonholing Reese as a post player. I was wrong, he is a versatile wing with big time athletic ability. I have a sneaking suspicion that even Reese doesn’t quite know how to use his bounce. Several times he used a quick first step to blow by his defender baseline only to attempt an athletic finish around the rim. With his size and length, one dunk off those drives would shut the gym down. As it is Reese proved to be one of the top sleepers at the event, and is a player that definitely can earn a scholarship somewhere.
