With no high school basketball in Nevada, many teams have been forced to get creative in order to compete. The Nevada Small School Showcase is a perfect example of that creativity. Taking place on Saturday, February 13th, the event was a round-robin event featuring teams from the 3A and 2A division of the state. It also featured a surprising number of potential prospects. In this article, we take a look at some of the sleepers from the event.
Benson LevittBensonLevitt6'2" | SFVirgin Valley | 2022StateNV 6’2 SF Valley Dawgs 2022 - Levitt has decent size and is a two-sport athlete. He brings a football toughness, but also has some basketball skill. He scored when he got out in transition, and knocked down a few jumpers, however, his best skill was his high motor and willingness to do the dirty work.
Peter IlievPeterIliev6'1" | SGSLAM | 2021StateNV 6’1 SG Toros 2021 (#89PHN 2021) - I was always impressed with Iliev’s shooting. He consistently knocked down shots from behind the line his junior year. He did the same today. Think of him as a floor-spacing 2, with decent size for his position.
Lucas Walker

Lucas Walker
LucasWalker5'11" | PGMoapa Valley | 2021StateNV 5’11 PG MV Ball Brothers 2021 (#46PHN 2021) - Walker is one of the most entertaining players in the state. It’s his speed and passing that opened my eyes. Walker not only showed good blow by ability but also good vision and the ability to pass the ball off the move. It’s difficult to gauge levels sometimes, but his offense, IQ, and h.s production warrant a serious look at him.
Cody Zile
CodyZile6'4" | SFLincoln Co | 2021StateNV 6’3 PF Redcats 2021 (#78PHN 2021) - The most difficult thing about Zile was figuring out what position he will end up playing. He is built like a wing, with long arms and fluid running ability. However defensively he defends 4 and 5’s. Offensively he shot it well, especially from the top of the key. An Intriguing prospect, he’s one of the players I’m looking forward to seeing more of next week.
Noah TomlinNoahTomlin6'5" | CSlam | 2024NV 6’5 C Toros 2024 (featured image) - Check the class then you understand why Tomlin is on this list. He passes the look test. Tomlin moves well for a young player and has great length and size. His biggest impact was on the defensive end, where he showed rim protection and rebounding skills. The Toros had a number of good young players, Tomlin may have been the best.
