Keaton Bassett, senior, Oskaloosa:
Though the Bears fell to Jackson Heights, Bassett’s effort deserves to be recognized. He knocked down 10 shots, including five triples to record 30 points in the defeat.
Jason Bosley, junior, Jackson Heights:
Offensively challenged no longer, the Cobras are starting to really roll. Bosley is probably the biggest reason why. He has suddenly found the touch, with 20-plus points in each of the last three games. Over the past three games, he has knocked down 13 three-pointers. He scored 20 in a loss to Valley Falls, then had 26 and 20 in wins over Oskaloosa and McLouth.
Isaac Detweiler, sophomore, Axtell:
The high-scoring sophomore just continues to impress. Axtell picked up two big wins last week, with the lights-out shooting of the 5-foot-9 guard leading the way. He hit four 3-pointers in a 51-50 win over Troy, then blistered Blue Valley-Randolph with five 3’s en route to 23 points. He hit 4-4 free throws in each game.
Jim Dorsey, junior Wellsville:
Dorsey is really making something of his junior season and will earn some post-season honors. He continues to add to his list of 20-point games. The 6-foot-5 sharp shooter knocked down three 3’s and tallied 23 points against Santa Fe Trail.
Landon Grimmett, sophomore, Lebo:
After starting the season strong, Grimmett went quiet for a few weeks. But he seems to have found his groove again, putting together some really strong games. If Lebo is to go deep, it could really use production from the 5-foot-10 guard like he’s made of late: 20 against West Franklin, 20 against Cair Paravel, and 16 against Baldwin.
Lance Noonan, junior, Burlingame:
Noonan is putting together a really nice junior season. He was a top-notch sixth man for the Bearcats last year, and now the 6-foot-3 athlete is taking it to the next level. He scored 22 against West Franklin. Last week he tossed in 27 against Waverly.
Jerrit Norris, sophomore, Troy:
It was sort of a bad week for Troy. It lost to Axtell, then had to deal with a loaded Hanover team. But the 6-foot-4 sophomore Norris continues to battle. He knocked down 21 points against Axtell, then came back with 34 against a really deep, talented and athletic Hanover club.
Sam Smith, junior, Burlington:
The 6-foot junior didn’t get much opportunity to show what he could do last season for the senior-laden Wildcats. Now given a chance, Smith is getting established. He recorded 25 points in a win over Osawatomie.
