Keenan Wilkins Keenan Wilkins 5'11" | PG Christ School | 2024 State NC | 5’11 Guard | Hendersonville
Wilkins hasn’t let the pandemic slow him down much entering his second season of varsity play at Hendersonville. He’s up to 22.7 ppg to go along with 4.3 spg, 2.3 rpg and 1.8 apg to lead the way for the 6-0 Bearcats. He put up 32 points against Franklin in a 76-65 victory on Jan. 30 to continue his scoring surge. Wilkins has 13 made 3-pointers while shooting with volume from the arc under his belt already as well as a double-double performance against East Henderson back on Jan. 27 where he netted 18 points and 11 steals. He’s a young guard to track now.
Isaac Dobie Isaac Dobie 6'3" | SG First Flight | 2023 State NC | 6’2 Shooting Guard | First Flight
Dobie is having himself a breakout sophomore campaign with First Flight as their featured scorer. He’s averaging 22.3 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 2.6 spg and 2.3 apg with two 30+ points games already under his belt. He’s made a total of 27 3-pointers to the tune of 39 percent in 2020-21 as one of the top shooters in 2023. In his two 30+ point outings, he knocked down a combnined 14 3-pointers. He’s a shooter worth knowing in the state.
Malek Patterson Malek Patterson 6'3" | SF West Caldwell | 2023 State NC | 6’3 Forward/Wing | West Caldwell
Patterson was a notable name on the grassroots scene and that’s carried over to his high school season at West Caldwell where he leads the team in scoring and rebounds. He’s posted 16.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 3.5 spg and 2.3 apg through his first four appearances for the Warriors. He opened the season with 29 points on 11-of-20 shooting in a win over Foard back on Jan. 6. He’s a strong downhill threat that gets to the paint and operates through traffic with his strength.
Markeevis Latta Markeevis Latta 5'11" | SG JF Webb | 2023 State NC | 5’11 Guard | JF Webb
Latta is having a strong season in his first year at the starting guard position for JF Webb. He’s putting up 14.7 ppg, 3.0 apg, 3.0 rpg and 1.8 spg at the lead guard role for the Warriors. He’s already put up a season-high 25 points on 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point land, though it came in a loss to Louisburg. He’s an emerging prospect to keep an eye that can score the ball in bunches and make plays.
Jakobe Hood Jakobe Hood 6'1" | CG West Caldwell | 2023 State NC | 6’0 Guard | West Caldwell
Hood has carried the load for West Caldwell in the backcourt in 2020-21. He’s produced 12.0 ppg, 3.5 spg, 3.3 rpg and 3.0 apg through his first four appearances for the Warriors at the lead guard spot. As he adjusts to the speed of the varsity game, look for him to turn a corner. He’s a crafty, three level scorer that makes plays and can fill it up from the perimeter when he finds his rhythm.
Jah Short Jah Short 6'4" | CG Farmville Central | 2023 State NC | 6’3 Guard/Wing | Farmville Central
Short is one name that appears on the list that’s up-and-coming for the Farmville Central Jaguars. He’s the team’s second-leading scorer behind Terquavion Smith Terquavion Smith 6'3" | CG Farmville Central | 2021 State #105 Nation NC , putting up 11.2 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.8 apg and 2.8 spg in Year 2. He’s an athletic, but heady defender that likes to get out and make plays on the fastbreak, showing off his bounce in the process. He put up a season-high 24 points on 11-of-15 shooting in a win over SouthWest Edgecombe. He also finished with 11 rebounds and five steals. He’s a high-motor prospect worth tracking now.
Jayden Pitt Jayden Pitt 5'11" | PG Farmville Central | 2023 State NC | 5’11 Point Guard | Farmville Central
Pitt is another name in the Jaguars rotation to keep an eye on in the backcourt. He’s averaging 8.4 ppg, 3.2 spg, 2.8 apg and 2.6 rpg in their 6-0 start to the season. He came up big in their win over South Granville back on Jan. 9 with 15 points, four rebounds and three steals. He can shoot it from deep and forces turnovers on defense pressuring the ball. He’s an emerging name to also keep eyes on in the Farmville Central rotation in the 2023 class.
