Gage Johnson 5’9″ Weaubleau: An impressive young point guard with good quickness and the court vision to set up his teammates with great scoring opportunities. He is very good with the dribble penetration and the ability to kick out to open shooters and he advances the ball well on the break. Plus, he is a knock down shooter from 3-point range as well. He hit three triples and scored 15 points in a big victory over Dadeville on Thursday night.
Bear Bock 6’3″ Palmyra: An impressive young wing player with good size and length who has already displayed the versatility to impact a game in several different areas. He’s had a few double-doubles already, which shows his rebounding chops. He’s also had games where he’s made multiple 3-pointers. He can take it off the board and go coast to coast to get a bucket. He also uses his length on the defensive end to get deflections and be disruptive.
Mark Panagos 5’11” Scott City: A very athletic guard who made an immediate impact on the varsity with his work at both ends of the court. He is an excellent defensive player who brings a lot of toughness to the court. On the offensive end, he has been good on the drive and in the transition game to get buckets. He was very impressive when I watched him at the Scott-Mississippi Tournament when he helped Scott City to the championship game; in double figures in all three games.
Caden Casey 5’10 Park Hills Central: Most people know about stellar 2024 point guard Jobe Bryant of Park Hills Central, but fellow classmate Casey is also having quite a debut season as a freshman. He is a fearless player who loves to attack the basket on the drive and will score in traffic through contact. He had a major breakout game last week when he scored 22 points and hit five 3-pointers in a game against Class 1 state power South Iron.
Quincy Thomas 5’10 Summit: An excellent young point guard who is having a solid freshman year for the Falcons, who are 10-5. He is a poised ball handler with a good feel for the game and good fundamentals. He is averaging six points, three rebounds and three assists a game while also playing good on-ball defense. He had a big breakout game of 18 points with three 3-pointers and four steals in a victory over Northwest Cedar-Hill.
