The boys’ game on the docket were quite exciting as we had one overtime game and another that was decided with a shot at the final buzzer. Here is a look at some of the top standouts from Saturday’s event.
Myles Estrada Myles Estrada 6'1" | SG Francis Howell Central | 2021 State MO 6’1″ Francis Howell Central: The 2021 guard scored a game-high 26 points the Spartans’ impressive victory over Normandy. Myles is a potent bucket-getter as he just recently became the school’s career scoring leader. He knows how to find points in a variety of ways. He shot the ball well from distance off the catch, he can work off screens and he can set screens to get himself open. He has solid moves off the dribble and he is strong enough to score in the low post.
Frankie May Frankie May 6'3" | SG Lutheran St. Charles | 2022 State MO 6’3″ Lutheran St. Charles: The 2022 guard had the most electric moment of the event as he sank a 30-footer at the buzzer to give the a 58-56 victory over Cape Girardeau Central. He has a strong offensive package with three level scoring ability. He came into high school as a strong driver, but now he can knock down 3-pointers consistently. He made five of them on Saturday. He can also score off the bounce and play through the contact.
Cameron Williams Cameron Williams 5'10" | PG Blue Springs | 2021 State MO 6’8″ Cape Girardeau Central: The talented 2023 forward was the top collegiate prospect in the event. He has a versatile skill set to go along with his size and he displayed all of it on Saturday. His turnaround jumper on the baseline was money and he can step out and shoot the 3-pointer off the pick and pop. He had some impressive rim runs on the break and he also dribbled up court and made his own plays off the bounce. It was a very impressive 18-point outing for the Top 5 Class of 2023 prospect in the state.
Christian Branson Christian Branson 6'5" | SF Mehlville | 2022 State MO 6’6″ Mehlville: The 2022 wing had his breakout performance of the season with 31 points and 10 rebounds in the Panthers’ overtime loss to Hannibal. He does a little of everything for his team besides get buckets, which included a trio of 3-pointers and some nice work in the post. He is a comfortable ball handler on the perimeter who can facilitate the offense and make plays for others.
Marcus Coleman 6’2″ Lutheran-St. Charles: The talented 2023 point guard scored 20 points in the victory over Cape Central. He has good size and he is very smooth on the dribble as he doesn’t look like he’s moving as fast when he is actually blowing by defenders. He has a high basketball IQ as he is a coach’s son and he drained three 3-pointers to compliment his impressive dribble penetration. He’s one of the many impressive young point guards in that Class of 2023.
Tristen Terrill 5’9″ Hannibal: A tough little 2021 guard who led the Pirates to an overtime victory over Mehlville. He had a team-high 21 points, but also had four rebounds and five assists. He’s usually the smallest player on the floor, but that doesn’t stop him from attacking the basket and getting into the lane, which he does well. He can also stick the open 3-pointer as well. He also has quick hands and good anticipation on the defensive end to get his share of steals.
Jack Fessenden 6’1″ Troy: The 2023 guard had a near perfect night in the Trojans victory over Lift for Life in the finale. He scored 16 points on six of six shooting from the field and three for three from beyond the 3-point line. He split a pair of free throws which kept his night from being perfect, but it was more than good enough. He moved well to get to the open spots to shoot and he also hit a nice transition 3 as well.
