Ben Davis @ Franklin Central – 2/2/2021
Benny Ogayonne Benny Ogayonne 6'1" | SG Franklin Central | 2021 State IN (Franklin Central) (2021) – 6’1″ SG: Ogayonne was the main reason why Franklin Central had a chance in this one. He led the Flashes with 19 points. He is a solid scorer who can make plays and get buckets from many different places on the court. He is quick getting to the rim and he knocked down two triples as well. Also, he has great court vision which allowed him to set up his teammates throughout the game. Ogayonne hasn’t received any offers yet, but he should be able to get some offers in the coming years.
Jayden Brewer Jayden Brewer 6'5" | SF Ben Davis | 2021 State IN (Ben Davis) (2021) – 6’5″ SF: Brewer has multiple Division 1 offers, and he showed exactly why in this one. Brewer has tons of length and he knows how to use his length at both ends of the floor. He has a smooth crossover and knows how to draw fouls when getting to the rim. One thing that I noticed was that he is a little hesitant to drive to his right. Almost every one of his drives was with his left hand, but he was able to finish well with both hands around the rim. In addition to his scoring ability, he has a high basketball IQ and sees nearly every opening in the defense to get both him and his teammates open. Brewers holds offers from Cleveland State, Evansville, IUPUI, and Miami-Ohio.
Indianapolis Metropolitan @ Greenwood Christian – 2/5/2021
Dazhon Lane (Indianapolis Metropolitan) (2021) – 6’2″ PG: Lane is a very quick guard who uses his quickness to make plays for Metro. He has a nice first step which allows him to get past his defenders, and he is also not afraid to drive and finish with his off-hand. With his quickness, he can get to going way too fast at times. However, he is a good facilitator and runs the offense well. Lane has a lot of athleticism in his game, and he is going to be a key for Metro winning a Sectional 58 title.
Evan Stinnet (Greenwood Christian) (2021) – 5’6″ PG: Stinnet hasn’t gotten a lot of college attention because of his height, but he is the heart and soul of this talented GCA offense. Stinnet is an outstanding point guard who gives his team a sense of calm when he has the ball in his hands, but he also has the ability to go fast and push the ball on the break. He recorded his first-ever 10 assist game in this one, and he was making the right passes the entire game. With the talent around him, he doesn’t have to score the ball, but he has the ability to do it should he need to. A lot of schools have passed on this kid, but he has the ability to be the catalyst of an offense at the next level if coaches can get past his height and just look at his game. He would be a very good late addition to a 2021 recruiting class for a team at the Division 3 level.
Styles McCorkle Styles McCorkle 6'5" | SF Greenwood Christian | 2021 State IN (Greenwood Christian) (2021) – 6’4″ SF: McCorkle is a very good, do-it-all type of player who has been very good for GCA this season. Although he struggled shooting from the outside in this one, 1-7 from three, he has knocked down those shots this year. He also did not let the misses get to him as he just took the ball inside and finished around the rim. He runs the floor very well which gets him quite a few opportunities in transition thanks to the outstanding passing by Evan Stinnet which we mentioned before. Also, he has very good handling ability which allows him to take his defenders off the bounce. McCorkle has slid under the radar recently, but he would be a good addition to a lot of Division 2 and Division 3 programs for next season.
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers @ Fort Wayne Northrop – 2/6/2021
Khamani Smith Khamani Smith 6'5" | SF Fort Wayne Northrop | 2021 State IN (Fort Wayne Northrop) (2021) – 6’5″ SF: Smith has a big body with tons of length, and he put that length on full display in this one. He was able to get multiple deflections and 2 steals on the defensive end, and he used his length to rise up over the taller defenders to make his mid-range jumpers off the bounce. In addition to his length, he is also a very physical driver and nice finisher around the rim. He absorbs contact around the rim though he forces around the rim at times. Smith also showed off his passing ability. He uses the pumpfake better than most players that I have seen, and it led to a couple of easy buckets for the Bruins.
Naylon Thompson Naylon Thompson 6'5" | PG Bishop Luers | 2021 State IN (Fort Wayne Bishop Luers) (2021) – 6’4″ PG: Thompson is a solid player that can do a lot of things well, and he put that on display in the win. He has good ball-handling ability, sees the court very well, and has a prolific crossover. He also has one of the better shot fakes that I have seen, and he uses it to get better shot opportunities. The senior struggled from the outside in this one, but he had his mid-range jumper working. One of the things that I really liked as well was that he never tried to do too much. He knows his game, and he always seems to make the right play. Also, even though he is the star, he isn’t afraid to dive on the floor. Of every player in this game, he was on the hill more than anyone, and this is what is going to impress any coach at the next level.
